Lab Days - Catgirls: The dreaded Nekomimienza [Episode 137205]

It was Hitomi Takayama on Channel 4 ("Your home for news") News that first called it "Nekomimienza" - combining the "-enza" ending of flu-like diseases with the Japanese term "nekomimi" or "cat-ears" to a compound word that simply meant "cat eared flu." Which made it sound a lot less dramatic than calling it "The Plague" or something that sounded as if fatalities were the normal result.

On the contrary, "Nekomimienza" typically gave males a cough and feeling of stuffiness. Women did get much sicker, but the incidence of death from this strain was almost completely unknown. As long as someone drank plenty of fluids and rested when the worst symptoms manifested - the third day after the worst symptoms hit saw the victim back to fine shape. Better in some ways.

Of course, they also had cat-ears and a tail as well as a few other changes that had popped up or out.

"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!" said Kasumi uncharacteristically when she discovered something else.

"Oh that's right," said Soun with a chuckle. "Saotome and I were just making a quick meal and then there was this pressing matter we had to attend to and we ran out of sake. When we got back, well, I'd forgotten to turn off the stove. Silly me."

"My kitchen," whimpered Kasumi, her ears flat against her head and her tail drooping.

"Oh well, all's well that ends well," summed up Soun.

"Well, now I know where Akane gets it," summed up Kasumi as she observed the wreckage. "I see someone cleared up the non-burned areas."

"That would be Ranma," admitted Soun. "Oh well, back to shogi."

Kasumi entertained herself with the idea of using her father as a scratching post briefly. Ah well, she had to fix this area up.
