Genie Lina: Study [Episode 137778]

by Disruptor

Lina sat on her bed and had memorized the various healing spells. She flipped back to the front of the book and read the various aspects of how White Magic could be used. Lina's eyes widened when she saw that Recovery and Resurrection could be used as an attack.

"This is crazy. How can two healing spells be used to hurt Mazoku?" Lina thought.

She read aloud the answer to her question.

"A healing spell like Recovery is a promotion of life. Hitting a Mazoku with a Recovery would be even more effective than Blast Ash. The reaffirmation of life burns a Mazoku like acid."

The new genie sat back in shock. "I've always dismissed White Magic as nothing more than Healing and Purification, but this changes my thoughts on it. Mazoku would be adversely affected by White Magic, wouldn't they? I wonder why we lost this bit of knowledge."

Lina let the books on White Magic return to their shelves, as she grabbed 'How to Be a Genie' once more.

She opened the book and started reading about her link to her master.

"Okay, while I'm in the ring, I'm synchronized with Gourry. Huh? What does that mean? Oh, I see. If Gourry goes to sleep, so do I. This is just great. I have to rely on Jellyfish brains to go to bed and wake up." Lina muttered, and shook her head. "This is a fascinating book. I just wish I didn't have to need it. I wonder what Master of my Environment is all about"

Lina let the gold book return as well, as she headed towards her lab. She picked up the Orihalcum statue and glared at it.

"You have been a lot of trouble. I know it's not the knife anymore. They could have taken it from me while they had me. What's your secret?"

The mage turned genie clenched her hands around the statue and twisted. She heard a snap as the statue broke, and a small rock hit the floor. Throwing the pieces of the statue onto the table, Lina knelt to get the rock.

"I forgot. In here, I'm a lot stronger," Lina thought, as she picked up the rock.

Lina stiffened as her whole body vibrated with power coming from the stone. Pushing the feeling to the side, Lina stood up and placed the rock onto the table and stared at it.

"That was interesting," Lina whispered, as she shivered from the experience.

Lina found a small box and used a pair of tongs to drop the stone into it. Shutting the box, Lina breathed a sigh of relief.

"Whatever that stone is, it must be what Zelgadis is hunting for. I did not like what it did to me," Lina thought, as she picked up the statue. "I guess I should repair this."

Lina went to work on the statue, so it would appear undamaged. She shook her head at the ease that she was able to untwist and straighten the metal with her bare hands.

The genie gave an amused snort. "Master of my environment."

Lina finished the statue and put it down. She stiffened and mechanically walked to her bed.

"What's going on?" Lina thought in a panic, as she lay down.

Somewhat robotically, she pulled the silk covers over herself and her eyes slowly closed.

Exasperated, Lina figured out what was going on. "Just great, Gourry's going to sleep. I wanted to study some more. There..."

Whatever she was thinking was cut off as she fell asleep.
