Thunder Ken: Parental Assistance [Episode 138397]

Rubbing at her eyes, Kumori sighed and pressed her lips together. "I don't imagine that you can keep away from this 'Dark Kingdom' and all that it does?"

"Well... They do have a habit of popping up wherever we are..." Ami admitted apologetically, "And..."

"What?"

"They are out to at least conquer the world, if not destroy it."

"And to think that I was happy when you started spending more time with your friends," their mother commented, and then raised a hand to forestall any argument. "I still think that your relationship with them is good for you, outside of this 'Sailor Senshi' business. You do realise that you have overcome a lot of that shyness that kept you only studying and afraid of meeting people?"

"I..."

"But in any case, I'm aware that no matter what I say, something will come up that will make you have to fight, even if you don't want to. My luck wouldn't be that good."

"Mom?"

"Understand that I'm doing this partially under duress, but I think that the only thing that I can do in this instance is to support you."

Ami's face lit up with the brightness of a large smile. "Do you really mean that?"

"Don't look so happy, young lady. I'm still not happy that you have been doing this without at least letting me know."

"Oh..."

"But as an adult with a bank account, car, and connections who can arrange supplies and medical care, I can do much to hopefully keep you girls safe. I can make sure that injuries are treated, plans are made, and this is all done in a way that will make the threat of you dying as small as we can make them."

"And you, my dear son, shouldn't get high and mighty right now."

"Huh?"

"You could have told me all of this when you first found out. Rather than clue me in to the danger that she was in, you ran off and put yourself into who knows what without even stopping to really give me a face to face explanation."

"Sorry..."

"Yes, well, I understand you both only too well. It's part of being a mother. However, as a mother, I also know when my children have to do something. And in this case, that means protecting lives and the planet, even if I would prefer to have you tied to your desks. Knowing my luck though, these monsters would probably smash through the walls to get at you."

"So..."

"You both can fight, so long as you understand that I want to know everything that happens, and that you find out. Also, when there's any sort of problem, you talk to me. I've dealt with the results of what happens when disturbed men who attacked people with a power saw, so I think that I can handle any shock you might send my way."

"Okay, Mom," her children chorused.

"Oh, and by the way? You're both grounded until further notice. If you're not at school, practicing, cram school, or study sessions, I want you back in this apartment, no exceptions. Understand?"

"Yes, Mom..."

"And I do wonder if it might be better if I tell Rei, Usagi, Minako and Makoto's family's about this..."

Ami gulped slightly, but said nothing.

Kumori felt a grim bit of satisfaction in what she considered a small victory while:
