Gundam Seed - After War: Mission Failed [Episode 138534]

by Yasanagi

"Need a little help, guys?" Athrun quickly fired his beam rifle to give Yzak some breathing room.

"Took long enough!! And where the hell is the legged ship?!? I thought they were going to give us backup!!" shouted the pilot of the Duel.

"The ships aren't exactly as fast as we are so cut them some slack!!" Dearka fired some missiles to cover himself from the machine guns of the CGUEs.

"What I would settle for is a plan to deal with these suits! We've got to disorient them enough for a clean shot!!" exclaimed Yzak. Athrun quickly gave it some thought when he felt inspiration strike him.

"Dearka, Yzak...remember our tactics course when the professor droned on about what Andrew Waltfeld did in the Suez Battle?" asked Athrun before he blocked another shot from a CGUE with his shield.

"I'm not sure I remember!!" Dearka let loose another missile volley to cause the CGUEs to scatter.

"That's because you were sleeping in class!!" chuckled Yzak. He paused. "Wait a minute...you suggesting that we pull off one of the Desert Tiger's tricks in space?"

"Why not? We got the materials for it," replied the pilot of the Strike Rouge. "Yzak, you got enough missiles left for this one?"

The pilot of the Duel checked his missile supply. "Yeah, I'm good!!"

"Let them loose then!!" The Duel launched more missiles from the left shoulder. "Dearka, now!!" The Buster and the Aile Strike Rouge fired their beam rifles to strike the missiles, creating a shockwave to disorient the CGUEs. With a mighty cry, Dearka combined his weapons again to hit and destroy two CGUEs. Yzak and Athrun withdrew their beam sabres and sliced a machine in half each.

"Status report," commanded Captain Don Richards.

"The Eden has been totally trashed and just came in. The Juggernaut isn't doing too well. The Gargoyle seems to be on an even footing with the Freedom so far. We've lost four of our CGUEs and two of our GINNs. Of the remaining GINNs left, only five are able to continue fighting."

"And the target?"

The ensign gave the painful answer. "Too far for us to reach at this point in time, sir."

"In that case, we'll have to abort the mission. Contact all units and tell them to withdraw at once. Helm, get us out of here."

"Yes, sir."

The various units belonging to the Obsidian Abyss began to withdraw from the battlefield. As the Gargoyle passed by the Blue Frame, Akira narrowed his eyes and made a promise to deal with Kou later. "Oh, no you don't! You're not going anywhere until I get some answers!!!" shouted Yzak.

"Cool it, Yzak! This isn't the time!!" commanded Athrun.

"Don't tell me what to do! You're not my commanding officer!!" retorted the pilot of the Duel.

"Yzak...we need time to recover as well. And besides, how long do you think you'll be able to last when your battery is only at seventeen percent?" asked Dearka. "I know because I have the same problem too." He glanced at his battery level.

Yzak growled, knowing that they were right. "Let's get back to the ships. And when we get back to the September City spaceport, you can ask Erica to replace your batteries with the one installed in the Strike Rouge. This way, your power and your Phase Shift armour last longer," said Athrun.
