Dean Wally Alison looked over the records belonging to Cadets Shinn Asuka and Lunamaria Hawke before making a decision. "I'll get straight to the point. The type of conduct that the two of you have displayed has no place in ZAFT. Cadet Hawke, you should have simply contacted Control when you saw Cadet Asuka disobey an order and let them handle the situation."
"Yes, sir," murmured the female Coordinator.
"And as for you, Cadet Asuka...if you can't follow orders like a proper soldier, then perhaps you shouldn't be in the military. I'm afraid I have no choice but to expel you." Before Wally could go further, his intercomm beeped, indicating a call from the office secretary. He pressed a button to answer the call. "Yes, what is it?"
"Sir, there's an incoming transmission for you."
"Thank you. I'll take it in a minute. Mr. Asuka, please remain here so I can inform you of proper discharge protocols once I finish this call. You too, Cadet Hawke. I still need to give you your punishment." Shinn noticed how the Dean did not address him by Cadet. He gave a small sigh as the Dean activated the video screen and was surprised to see ZAFT Supreme Councilman Gilbert Dullindal. "Councilman Dullindal! What an unexpected surprise! How can I help you?"
"I've been reading some reports about the battle that occurred earlier this morning and I needed to confirm something with the Academy. According to what has been reported by the Aprilius City authorities, a pair of GINN trainer suits were seen in the battlefield. I assume those two were piloting them?"
"That's correct, sir. The Cadets were ordered to return to the spaceport when their space mock battle had been cut due to the battle earlier. I was in the middle of disciplining them when you called," replied Wally.
"I see. I would like to speak with these Cadets so they can explain to me what happened from their point of view." The Dean stepped aside to let the image of Councilman Dullindal focus on Luna and Shinn. "As you know, I'm Gilbert Dullindal, a member of the ZAFT Supreme Council. Please introduce yourselves and tell me what you saw when you arrived on the scene."
"I'm Cadet Lunamaria Hawke. When my colleague headed off towards the battle, I followed him intending to drag him back to the spaceport. Thanks to the help of the Strike Rouge..." Her cheeks grew slightly rosy at the thought of her sempai. "...I was able to return with my colleague."
Dullindal's image nodded. "I see. That would make you the pilot who fought off two GINNs who were about to attack the shuttle of the Secretary-General, Cadet...?"
"Actually, it's just Shinn Asuka. I was in the middle of being expelled from the Academy."
"Ah. Dean Alison, I don't suppose it would be too much trouble if you could refrain from expelling Mr. Asuka?"
The Dean's eyes widened at the idea. "B-but sir!! He disobeyed a direct order from a superior officer! We can't have soldiers who can't obey orders in the military!"
"I understand your point however this young man did contribute to the protection of the Earth Alliance Secretary General and we do owe him for this service. I would like to request that Mr. Asuka stay enlisted in the Academy."
"Yes, sir." The image of Councilman Dullindal vanished, indicating the end of the transmission. Wally sighed before addressing the cadets again. "It seems that you are going to be with us a while longer, Cadet Asuka. However you will still be punished for your earlier actions. For the next four weeks, you will report to the Sanitation Department and assist them with whatever cleaning duties that must be carried out whenever you do not have classes. In addition, you will be required to report to the mess hall at 0500 hours to assist kitchen staff with breakfast. Whenever you are not carrying out these extra duties or in class, you will be confined to your quarters. Any deviation from this regimen will result in further disciplinary action. Do I make myself clear?"
"Yes, sir!"
"Dismissed." As Luna and Shinn left the office, Rey passed by them to speak with the dean. Wally composed himself and spoke. "What can I do for you, Cadet?"
"I would like to request some time off for the next three days. I have just learned that my grandfather's funeral will be taking place in Aprilius City," spoke the blonde haired male.
"Request granted. However it will be your responsibility to catch up with your colleagues when you return."
"I understand. Thank you, sir." Rey saluted and left to do some packing. It would be a few more hours before his transport to Aprilius City departs from the Academy.
