“I don’t know exactly how long the OA has been operating. I know it hasn’t been around as long as Blue Cosmos has, but it’s already gained thousands of members all over the PLANTS and Coordinators secretly living on Earth.” Kou began, sipping his coffee as he explained what he knew of Obsidian Abyss’s history. “They’re everywhere in the PLANTS, housewives, salary men, business owners, politicians, military, you name it they’ve got people in there. Shit I believe they got one or two people in the Earth Alliance posing as Naturals so they can find out what kinda crimes the EA is committing so they can use it as propaganda and brainwashing material.”
”How did Obsidian Abyss form?” Kisaka asked.
“I dunno the full story really. A bunch of high ranking Coordinators got sick of being persecuted and decided to return the favor the same way in which Blue Cosmos zealously murders them with intents to wipe them all out. They formed an organization bent on destroying Naturals, except they decided to stay underground.”
”Why stay underground?” Erica asked curiously as she twirled the stirring stick in her coffee.
“Because they knew that being public had also given Blue Cosmos no end of grief from the majority who may disapprove of genetic-tampering but loathed the terrorist manner in which Blue Cosmos acted. So they opted to stay low and in secret till the time was right. Even their screening process for members was very selective, and they waited until the right opportunities to seek out members who were truly for the cause.” Kou explained. At the puzzled looks he continued. “Blue Cosmos has had a record of members joining in the zeal of the moment, then once they see the true face of their racist and genocidal organization they leave and spill about how bad they really are which works against them. The OA make sure their members are fully of the same mind, and won’t falter, they don’t want posers or wishy-washy fools who sign up in the heat of the moment.”
“A pretty smart set-up,” Erica allowed. “So what sort of “opportunities” did they wait for before trying to recruit new people?”
“Every time Blue Cosmos or the EA committed an affront against Coordinators and it made the news or the net, Obsidian Abyss was quick to have recruiters go about and find those who would make great additions and would surely be for their cause.” Kou puts down his empty coffee mug. “Junius Seven and the war sky-rocketed their numbers to nearly a million alone, and in term it allowed them to infiltrate the military with their agents.” He scratches his chin. “Hell it’s probably how they stole those three new suits, and acquired those ships, the GINN’s and CGUE’S from the last battle.”
”How did you know those three suits are stolen ZAFT property?” Kisaka asked, very, very curious.
Kou was silent. “…It’s not easy to explain I doubt you’d beli- okay maybe you would.” He said at their looks. He sighs. “One of the reasons they tried to recruit me as a kid was because I have…one or more forms of strange ESP abilities. Don’t ask me the specifics even I haven’t figured it all out. All I know was is that I received visions of those suits in a ZAFT lab, a buncha dead technicians, and three people I know who are OA members piloting them.”
Erica frowned. “Kira did mention the Freedom read the registry of the mobile suit he fought as a ZAFT model.”
”The ZGMF – 15A Gargoyle if I’m not mistaken,” Kou said matter-of-factly.
Erica’s jaw nearly hit the floor. “How did you know that?”
Kisaka’s brow furrowed. “It seems your claim of ESP isn’t far-fetched…tell me what else do you know about Obsidian Abyss?”
”Too much to tell in detail and I’ve been out of a loop with what little bits I haven’t been able to hear through hacking their databases and through my ESP, but the gist of it is…if they showed themselves by attacking Secretary General Obani…then they’re making their big move.” Kou said worriedly.
“Their big move?”
”To do what Patrick Zala nearly did with the damn GENESIS cannon…wipe out all Naturals and establish themselves as a new Coordinator universal order.” Kou said in all seriousness.
Kisaka and Erica exchanged looks before the man stood up. “I’m going to return to the bridge and call for a meeting when we land.” He said before exiting his office. He had kept his eyes on Kou and saw no sign of lies from him…and despite some far-fetched things he told them, it all seemed to make sense with what just occurred.
It seemed they would all be tested once again to see how far they’d fight to preserve the fragile peace they barely just won.
