Murrue stepped up to the microphone so that the three crews could hear her clearly. "As you are aware, we are facing a new faction that seems to be interested in reigniting the conflict between Naturals and Coordinators. This faction is known as the Obsidian Abyss and is basically a Coordinator group dedicated to the eradication of all Naturals. A Coordinator Blue Cosmos group if you will. The reason why nobody has ever heard of them was because they kept themselves hidden out of sight. Now that I've set the record straight, I would advise all crew members to cease their panicking about potential Mutant Coordinators planning to devour our brains."
The audience all shared a small chuckle at Murrue's little joke. Yzak then turned to Dearka with a smirk. "Men in Black, huh?"
"Well...I was partially right about the secret organization thing. Ha!!" Miriallia just smiled in amusement.
Andy stepped up to the microphone next. "As to why the faction had ZAFT type mobile suits and battleships, we learned that the Abyss had agents who infiltrated ZAFT to quietly construct their own ships and suits. If you've watched the news recently, Supreme Councilman Gilbert Dullindal claimed that those units were not registered with the ZAFT military and that he would launch his own investigation into this. We'll probably be getting in contact with him at some point later to assist with the investigation and get some answers."
"To prepare ourselves for the new threat, we will be conducting military exercises and combat drills based on the combat patterns that have been suggested by the Kusanagi's latest mechanic and mobile suit pilot, Kou Uramecha. Kou has had some experience against the Obsidian Abyss and has a remarkable intuition for his age. Please show him the proper courtesy as you would show for your fellow crewmates," said Kisaka. An applause came forth for Kou, who simply gave a small wave and smile.
"That kid's a mobile suit pilot?!?" asked Cagalli in disbelief.
"Yeah. It's hard to believe that considering that he's a few years younger than us," replied Athrun.
"What suit is he going to get? As I recall, every suit in our little fleet already has a pilot unless he's going to replace someone else," muttered the Princess of Orb as Erica made her way to the microphone.
"Before we begin creating strategies against the Obsidian Abyss, I would like to inform you all of the suit that Mr. Uramecha will be using. I'm certain that all of you has heard of Morgenroete's Astray project before the attacks on Heliopolis?" Various murmurs were heard from the audience but it seemed that nobody was out of the loop. "Mr. Uramecha would be using an upgraded version of the Astray Gold Frame that had been recently obtained by the Junk Guild."
"What type of upgrades did it get?" asked a member of the audience.
"The original Gold Frame had been overhauled and rebuilt from scratch at the facilities at Morgenroete. We were also able to salvage some components that allowed us to incorporate Phase Shift and Mirage Colloid technology into the Gold Frame," answered Erica. This surprised many members of the audience and most of them began talking amongst themselves.
"Mirage Colloid and Phase Shift? They must have had quite a find," said Dearka with a frown. He felt something nagging at him but he couldn't put a finger on it.
"Right now, the MBF-P01-Re2 Gundam Astray Gold Frame Amatu is being unloaded at this spaceport from the Junk Guild's ship. There isn't a camera feed there so if you would like to see it, you will have to go to the observation lounge a few floors up. Now I'll pass the mike back to Captain Kisaka over here..." She stepped aside to let the man speak.
"Thank you. I would like to remind you that our military drills will begin tomorrow morning at 0700 hours so I suggest that you all get some rest now while you still can. That concludes this briefing so you are all dismissed." Most of the crew members of the three crews began to go back to their respective ships.
"I'm interested in seeing what type of suit that the kid will be piloting," commented Yzak. He along with Dearka, Kira, Athrun, Cagalli, Lacus and Miriallia made their way upstairs.
"Wait up! I want to see what I'm getting to operate!!" Kou rushed after them with Erica following him at a casual pace.
The group eventually made their way to a somewhat comfortable room with some couchs, tables and chairs. A large window was in front of them, overlooking most of the spaceport. "So where's the Junk Guild ship?" asked Kira as he looked out the window.
Erica came from behind the group and pointed to a general direction. "Right there. The ship is kind of tucked close to the Eternal but that couldn't be helped."
"I think I see the mobile suit that Kou will be using," said Lacus softly.
As soon as Dearka, Yzak, Kira and Athrun saw the mobile suit, they all gasped in shock and lost the colour in their faces when they saw that the Gold Frame's right arm was the same arm that the GAT-X207 Blitz Gundam had lost before it had been destroyed by Kira Yamato.
