"Nagisa, Misato has told me how you were able to see an Angel at such an extreme range," Ritsuko said.
Nagisa Kara nodded. "Yes. I get the feeling it has to do with space travel. I'm not sure what though."
Ritsuko cocked her head. "Space travel? I thought you told Misato that it had something to do with that Iczer Robo of yours."
Nagisa closed her eyes. "I think Iczer Robo can travel in space. I'm not sure. I'd have to test that."
"I should have taken more packets," Ritsuko thought.
The NERV doctor put a chart up with kanji characters in various sizes up. A horizontal strip of red was about a third of the way down on the chart. Two lines of characters below the red line was a green line.
"An eye chart?" Nagisa asked, with a smile. "Why? I can see perfectly."
"I want to see how perfect," Ritsuko said, handing Nagisa a walkie-talkie. "Open the door and head to the end of the hallway. Use the walkie-talkie to tell me what characters I'm pointing to."
Nagisa shrugged and took the walkie-talkie with her. She went to the end of that very long hallway and waited. Ritsuko picked up a pointer and tapped it against a blank part of the chart, while deciding where to point first.
"Castorpollux Paper Supply Company," Nagisa's voice came over the radio device. "There's also the image of two boxers fighting each other."
"I'm not pointing at anything," Ritsuko muttered under her breath.
"Actually you are," Nagisa said over the communicator. "It's at an angle and is a very light gray."
"You can hear me?" Ritsuko said in shock.
"Yes, I can. Ritsuko, someone has written something bad about you on that red line. I'd rather not read it aloud."
Ritsuko grumbled, "Come back here. I'm going to check this paper under a spectrograph."
Ritsuko took the chart down and did as she said. Nagisa returned and switched off both walkie-talkies and waited. Ritsuko stared at what she had found. On the red line, someone had written her name with some very nasty insults after it in red ink. The blank area that Nagisa said had a character did show up with what she said was there.
"You read the watermark of this chart at that distance? How?" Ritsuko whispered to herself.
Nagisa shrugged and examined the outside of a black three-ring binder. "Ever since that first Angel, I've been able to distinguish colors a lot easier. This folder for example is composed of swirls of dark purple, dark green, and dark brown. If I just casually glance at it, I'll see black like I used to."
Ritsuko sighed heavily and went back to testing Nagisa. After about an hour, Ritsuko dismissed Nagisa and went over what she had found out.
"Okay. She can see a lot further than an average human and at greater detail. She also can see in almost pitch-black rooms. Her hearing is sharper and can hear both above and below even the best humans. The fact that she could hear me across a long hallway, without the use of any equipment still surprises me. Strangely, her sense of taste and smell are normal. Sense of touch? Did not test."
Ritsuko stood up and went to her quarters in a restricted part of NERV. She pulled our a file labeled 'Human Completion Project'
"The purpose of this project is to advance humanity to the next stage of evolution," Ritsuko thought, as she read the file. "Next step? The next step is Nagisa."
Ritsuko opened up a file that she had on Nagisa and wrote in it. She picked up the file and read the new lines aloud.
"Conjecture: Nagisa Kano had some sort of genetic manipulation done to her to advance her to the next stage. It has now finally activated in her descendant through extreme stress.
Recommendation: Investigate all friends and family of Nagisa Kano to find whoever altered Nagisa Kano's genetic structure."
Ritsuko closed the file and rubbed her head once more. Elsewhere in NERV, Nagisa thought back to her dreams as she headed towards the surface.
"I haven't tried, but I think I can teleport and create an energy sword," Nagisa thought. "At least that's what Iczer-1 did in that dream about her killing my house."
An idle memory of the two of them vanishing from where Iczer Robo was stored and appearing on Earth came to the forefront.
"Dimension travel as well."
Nagisa sighed and left NERV. She grimaced, as she walked home. She could feel the guards following her from a distance. Entering her house, she went to the bedroom and stood looking into a full body mirror. A purple glow surrounded her and she became a bolt of light that vanished upwards. Just beyond the stratosphere of Earth, Nagisa reappeared and gazed down at the Earth.
"It's is so beautiful from up here," Nagisa said.
Although I don't want to part with you Nagisa, I shall grant you your deepest desire. I shall restore the Earth to what it was: A peaceful world.
Upon hearing those words in her mind, the full memory of what Nagisa Kano went through came to Nagisa Kara. She recalled the battle with Big Gold that left the Earth in ruins and being part of Iczer-1 after being shot through the chest. Nagisa Kara recalled having her family names be Tain and Akira. Another remark made my Iczer-1 stood out clearly.
Human medicine won't work on me. I'm actually an android.
"So am I," Nagisa whispered to herself. "A biological android. I've fully transformed. Iczer-1 must have programmed me with instructions on how to use my powers."
Nagisa turned and faced deep space. A longing was in her face, as she gazed upon the stars.
"Iczer-1. The other half of my soul is out there. She's not my friend anymore, she's my sister now," Nagisa thought. "After these Angels are dealt with, I'm going to track her down. I belong by her side."
Nagisa teleported back to where Iczer Robo was stored. She found a black and green outfit. Quickly changing into the new clothes. She reappeared and gazed at her reflection. A wry smile played across her lips.
"You knew this would happen to me eventually Iczer-1," Nagisa amusedly said to herself. "So, you gave me a green version of your costume. The fingerless gloves and martial arts bracers are a nice touch."
Nagisa concentrated and the Iczer outfit vanished to be replaced by the pink and yellow mini-dress that she was just wearing. Nagisa brushed her hair back with her hands and looked at her ears.
"If I go through synchronization, they might change."
Nagisa let her hair drop to cover her ears.
"Synchronization? I'm going to have to go through a lot of emotional stress and turmoil for that to happen."
Nagisa lay down on her bed with arms crossed behind her head.
"I gave you human emotions, what did you give me from when we were one person?" Nagisa thought.
She thought back to her time as Nagisa Kano and sighed.
"You gave me your steel. I'm not a crybaby anymore."
Nagisa thought about seeing what Jet Alone would be like and then willed herself to sleep.
