Iczer Nagisa: Iberian Insecurity [Episode 144045]

by Disruptor

Asuka Soryu Langley had just finished her synch-tests. She frowned, as she left the lab. Some reports had finally trickled down to her that the Angels were attacking.

"My Evangelion is ready. Why aren't they sending me to Japan?" she thought.

As she walked through NERV Germany, she spotted Kaji looking troubled. He had a couple of camcorder tapes with him. She skipped up to him and smiled brightly.

"What's going on Kaji?"

Kaji grimaced, as he looked at Asuka. "These tapes show the battle with the three Angels that have appeared so far. The third, fourth, and fifth Angels. I can not believe that they unmothballed such an old project to help with Ramiel."

"Old project?"

"The Fuji-Two."

Asuka blinked several times in shock. "The Fuji-Two? But why?"

"Two nuclear reactors are on it. One is dedicated to the main gun. One of the refits being planned is to make it able to carry the Evangelion units into battle. It has the room," Kaji said with a snort.

Asuka glanced at the tapes and then back at Kaji. "Let's see the battles. I need to know what's going on."

Kaji sighed heavily. "Okay, but you're not going to like it."

"It can't be that bad," Asuka said.

Kaji said nothing, but led Asuka to the viewing room. The two of them watched the destruction Ramiel first. Asuka shook her head, as she saw the fight. The solo action against Shamshiel was next up. Asuka was upset that someone before her got a solo kill on an Angel, but she shelved it, seeing that Eva-01 was damaged during the fight.

Looking at the last tape, Kaji muttered, "I'm still trying to figure this one out."

Kaji had a sad look in his eyes, as he glanced at Asuka. He popped the tape in and started playing the video. Asuka watched in amusement as Sachiel was fought with conventional weapons. Her amusement stopped, when she heard mentions of a yellow pattern and saw the lightning star. The sudden appearance of Iczer Robo caused Asuka's mouth to drop.

"That thing is more than just five times the size of the Angel. It's more like ten or fifteen," Asuka mentally corrected what was being broadcast.

Seeing the Third Angel get battered around like a cat playing with a ball of yarn shook Asuka. After the Angel was gone, the much bigger mecha vanished and commands were issued to bring that girl in.

"What was that?" Asuka whispered. "That thing was...."

Kaji replied, "That mecha is called Iczer Robo. We have no idea where it came from. We have no idea why that girl, Nagisa Kara, can call upon it. We just know it showed up and smacked an Angel down with little effort. Nagisa Kara is something of a mystery. She has been emergency designated Fourth Child due to what you just saw."

"Am I even needed?" Asuka muttered quietly.

"Yes. Don't worry about that," Kaji reassured Asuka. "The Jet Alone project is on the chopping block though. There is nothing that it brings to the table that the Eva series and Fuji series don't already do. When Fuji-Two is fully refitted, it will be able to carry up to four EVA's into battle and have the extension cords to power the four EVA's. It can hide behind terrain, while the EVA's do the fighting. If needed, it can act as support. Captain-no. Major Katsuragi is trying to force that through. She wants four Evangelion units fully active and have them ready to be deployed via the Fuji-Two to minimize risks to civilians. Eva-03 is also being finished. They have yet to choose a pilot for it. I'm not sure what Misato is going to do with Fuji-1 and Fuji-3."

"What about Iczer Robo?" Asuka asked quietly.

"We don't know anything about it. We're not going to rely on it," Kaji stated.

Asuka muttered something that Kaji couldn't catch. Kaji shook his head sadly and left Asuka alone. Asuka replayed the tape and froze the image on Iczer Robo. Tears were in her eyes, as she gazed at the mecha

"Why?"

Nagisa woke up and walked to NERV. She did want to see what the Jet Alone project was like. As she passed by an area that showed a part of the original Tokyo submerged, she stopped and stared in that direction.

"That's where the mobile fortress was," Nagisa thought. "So much has changed since then."

Nagisa smiled and continued her walk. "That's another thing that I got from that entire business. A true appreciation on how beautiful the Earth is."

The girl turned android entered NERV and found Dr. Akagi preparing for departure.

"Don't you have some normal clothes to wear?" Ritsuko asked.

"This from a person who designed flight suits that make their wearers look like robots," Nagisa countered. "Other than my school uniforms, I don't really have that many outfits that I can wear. They are either too small or falling apart. I'm being very careful on what I spend what little money I have. The only other one I can think of is even more outrageous than this one."

Ritsuko grabbed two packets from her aspirin bottle and swallowed the pills.

Nagisa shook her head.

"I've just had a meeting with Commander Gendo Ikari. He does not want you near the Jet Alone. You are too valuable to risk in case something goes wrong out there," Ritsuko said.

"Huh?"

"I'm not sure what's going on either, but his orders are for you to stay in Japan. He has his reasons."

Nagisa sighed and looked a bit disappointed. "Well, if that's the way he feels about it, I won't get on board any plane or boat leaving Japan."

Ritsuko nodded and left Nagisa alone. Leaving NERV, Nagisa quickly headed home and insta-changed into her Iczer suit. She smiled impishly, as she examined herself in the mirror.

"I didn't say I wouldn't teleport. My senses should be able to pick up everything being said or shown."
