"They are really getting heated in there," Nagisa muttered.
Nagisa shook her head, as she listened.
"Right."
Inside the meeting, Ritsuko was speaking into a microphone. Well, more like yelling into it, while she argued against the use of Jet Alone.
"We have successfully defeated three Angels. Why do we need the Jet Alone?"
The primary scientist for Jet Alone countered, "It has no need of an extension cord or have a three minute battery life."
"It also can't make decisions based on changing circumstances," Ritsuko said. "It would have been destroyed in the fight with the latest Angel."
"You broke out the nuclear powered Fuji-Two. What makes you think that Jet Alone is unable to compare with that ancient project?"
"Fuji-Two has two nuclear reactors. One is dedicated to its main gun. That heat ray did not get through the AT field, but it did allow the two EVA pilots to get clean shots from the opposite side. Tactics were the key there. Jet Alone can't make even the simplest decision."
"One of the Evangelion units was damaged during the attack by the Fourth Angel. What's your counter for that?"
Ritsuko started laughing, as she replied, "Unit-01 was damaged because the pilot had to save two civilians who against common sense went out to see the fight between Unit-01 and the Angel. If they had stayed in the shelter, it is probable there would have been no damage to Unit-01."
"Err," the Jet Alone scientist was at a loss.
Ritsuko shook her head in amusement. "As you can see, we are working far under budget and are highly effective. Putting Jet Alone in action is a waste of money on an unproven design."
Murmurs from the crowd told Ritsuko and her opponent that the tide of opinion was swinging away from Jet Alone. Ritsuko smirked in victory over her debate about the Jet Alone. In the sky above the convention hall, Nagisa was quietly laughing to herself.
"And Jed Alone would be completely overwhelmed by Iczer Robo or the Delos Theta," Nagisa thought.
Nagisa turned her attention to where the Jet Alone was being stored. Curious, she used her senses to find something out. She teleported away and into the interior of Jet Alone.
"So, this is the inside of a giant robot," Nagisa thought. "If I hadn't turned into an Iczer android, I'd be worried about the radiation in here."
Nagisa shook her head, as she walked around.
"The only manual controls are inside a radioactive chamber that will most likely kill anyone who tires. What were they thinking?" she thought.
Nagisa sighed and teleported back to Japan. She didn't see the inside of the Jet Alone power down. The scheduled demo for Jet Alone had the mecha silo open and Jet Alone falling on its face. Some technicians did some tests and reported the engine was down and would take thirty minutes to get back on line.
"In thirty minutes, an Angel will be through any defenses," Ritsuko said to the project director. "Response time is critical in times of battle."
The Jet Alone project was stopped
