Athrun paused his combat drill when he heard the transmission. "The METEOR has arrived?"
"That's right. It's ready for your inspection in Armory 01," replied the technician.
"Thanks. I'll be over in a bit." Athrun then closed the channel and directed his suit to head towards the armory.

"The time is now 1400 hours! Shift's over, Cal." The young blond haired ZAFT officer stretched his arms while the replacement officer, a male with brown hair, waited for him to vacate the station.
"I really wish I could get a shift change instead of doing these morning shifts. It's playing havoc with my body clock, I tell ya. Well, I'm off to get a meal. Have fun, Quinn!" Cal got up from his seat and left the office which monitored all communications traffic for the ten PLANTs of Aprilius City.
As soon as he sat down, he started typing in a few commands to make a few minor alterations to the communications system. He had to be careful not to let anyone else in the office get wind of what he was doing. In a few moments, he had finished making the alterations. If luck holds out, the other monitors wouldn't notice anything funny for an hour. After the hour would pass, he would have to restore the system to normal for the daily system inspection to take place smoothly. However, his alterations had essentially ensured that any distress call that the Archangel would try to send out to ZAFT units would be filled with static.
Quinn checked his cell phone and noticed a text message had arrived from his partner. Harvey worked in the same communications monitoring job as him except in Martius City. 'Things have gone well on his part. Now, it'll be up to the front line guys to do their job...' Quinn sent a small message to the Starscream and the Pegasus. 'It's show time, boys.'

"Sir, we've got the signal!!"
"Deactivate Mirage Colloid! Have our units launch and then lock weapons on the Eternal!!" ordered Richards. He noticed the viewscreen showing the Starscream also decloaking and preparing for battle.
Down near the catapult for the mobile suits, the pace was frantic. "Alright, guys! You are cleared to go!!"
"Acknowledged!! Akira Yagami! Let's rock!!"
"Leo Candide, rolling out!!"
"Hugo Namora, taking off!!"

"Sir! We got trouble!!" shouted an ensign on the bridge of the Eternal.
"What now?" As soon as the question left Andy's mouth, the bridge shook on impact as a beam cannon hit a part of the ship. "I had to ask..."
"We got two ships flanking us and they got weapons locked!! They've also launched nine mobile suits at us!! Four GINNs, two CGUEs, X-15A Gargoyle, X-16A Juggernaut and X-17A Eden!!"
Waltfeld barked out some orders. "Get Kira ready for launch!! Radio Athrun!! Get him back here to help us out!! Activate all weapons and return fire!"
"We can't get Athrun back! He's trapped at Armory 01! Looks like a few stray missiles had hit the entrance of the armory and caused a bit of a cave in!!"
"Shit!!! How the hell did they catch us off guard like this?!?" growled Andy. "Try and send out a distress call to any ZAFT units! Maybe they can back us up!!"
"We're having problems! Something's fucking with the signal!!"
Andy held on as the bridge shook again from another impact. "Well, isn't this just prime?"

"Nine mobile suits against one...great..." Kira remembered the last time he had been badly outnumbered was when the Zala team constantly harassed the Archangel. He had barely been able to hold off against the Aegis, the Duel, the Blitz and the Buster months ago when he was still in the Strike and when he had Mu backing him up. Now, he's going to have to pull an even bigger rabbit out of his hat.
"System all green. Go ahead, Kira."
'I can't afford to lose! The Eternal...Lacus...they're counting on me!!' The boy activated his Phase Shift armour and took a deep breath. "Kira Yamato, launching!!"
