For a moment, it was like time was frozen, as the two of them stayed in the same position as they were.
And then the reactions to her words set in.
Kagome found herself shaking her head free of the idea that this was Inu-Yasha, as she'd stayed away from the Well by removing herself from the city. She thought it likely that she'd either brought whatever was causing the men and boys to change back from the past, or she'd be bringing it back on her next trip. But no matter what happened, it'd be her fault if innocent people got affected by something that she'd done.
However, she was not quite the best tracker, no matter how many trips into the past she'd made, and so she'd gotten lost. That had been bad enough, but she'd wound up accidentally getting into trouble with those bullies. Her skills had never been really focused on close combat, so she was at their mercy, whatever that would have been. Fortunately though, someone had come along and protected her, much like a certain half demon had been doing for a while now.
But she realised that this was not the boy that she knew, as his clothing was definitely different than Inu-Yasha's. She'd reacted instinctively though, and had said the first thing that she could think of that would prove who he was. The results of that were now very clear.
