"Here, you'll feel better with some of this in you."
"please don't shout."
"I'm whispering. Here, breathe the vapors."
A tentative sniff and the spikes of pain retreated under the vaguely apple-smelling fumes. She creaked one eye slightly open. "dying"
"You're not dying. Try sipping on this."
A Strong arm supported her. Strong and warm. She could feel the heat off of a cup near her face and she decided as she was dying anyway, she might as well drink.
The Aesir partied regularly and strong drink factored into those parties. Naturally someone had worked out a fairly powerful "morning after" tonic.
Eyes slowly focussed as the fluid seemed to explode when it hit her stomach. "Whoa."
"Glad to see you're among the living again," said the male as he disentangled himself.
Rei blinked and blinked again as her eyes didn't seem to want to focus quite completely just yet. "Ami's brother?"
"I've got to see to the others," said the boy, retreating through the door and quietly closing it behind him.
At which point Rei realized what she was wearing. An oversized tunic over her underwear. "WHAT?! oh owie. Reminder to self - no loud noises."
The scene had been repeated, with minor variations, with both Minako and Makoto.
Since one of those variations had been Minako trying to pounce on her benefactor, Sif handled the waking up of Usagi Tsukino.
Luna followed along as Artemis walked, no - strutted away. She gaped when he did something unfamiliar though.
One eyeblink he was a white cat, the next he was a bishonen human form who was talking to a woman leading a horse-drawn cart through the streets.
Luna quickly caught back up to him and hissed at him. "Artemis! You'll draw attention to us! Not to mention HOW did you do that?"
"I remembered," said Artemis casually. "By the way, Luna. These people are used to talking birds, wolves, cats, dogs, horses, and the occasional weasel. We're not fooling anyone by pretending to be normal cats."
"You can say that again," said an osprey as he looked up from cleaning his feathers.
"See," said Artemis, matter-of-factly.
"So we're surrounded by enemies?" asked Luna, her fur going up.
"Paranoid, isn't she?" asked the osprey.
"Occupational hazard," said Artemis with a shrug. "We're fighting evil vampiric beings from a dark dimension."
"Ah, been there, done that, got a few tail feathers singed as I recall," said the osprey. "Epic quest?"
"Reincarnated soldiers of an ancient war," explained Artemis. "Good versus evil."
"Artemissss," hissed an alarmed Luna.
"Hear that," said the osprey. "Doesn't involve the Rhinegold or something like that does it?"
"Nope, actually I'm glad that's one thing we don't have to worry about," admitted Artemis.
"Truth," said the osprey, nodding. "Good luck and good hunting."
"Thanks," said Artemis, waving as he started out again. He had to wait for Luna to catch up again, as the mooncat was staring wildly around herself.
"What was all that about?!" demanded Luna as she caught back up.
"See that?" asked Artemis pointing to a really large hall in the distance. "That's Valhalla. A gathering place for the spirits of dead warriors. That over there is a place I can't even pronounce, but it's the lodge of heroes. Heroes who went out to do great things, did them, and often died doing them. Imagine if we could get some of THEM to help us out."
"ARTEMIS! EXPLAIN!"
"Later, Luna, later." Artemis yawned. "It's been a long night and I could use some shut eye."
