In her bed, Kagome Higurashi grew still as the program completed and the viral colonies linked briefly and discharged the magical energies they'd accumulated. The stillness only lasted a moment however.

Kagome groaned. So it had happened. She'd seen only a brief report and heard the talk before she'd apparently been infected and started coughing. Sango hadn't lasted any longer.
She was herself. All her memories were intact, it was just that the eruption of magic had flowed through her and altered her before whatever gifts she'd had could activate and repel the virus.
Kagome considered that. The virus was magical. Demonic taint? Maybe. Something left over from the past? Possibly.
Opening her eyes, Kagome considered the ceiling of her room and let data streams briefly fill her vision.
There were strengths and weaknesses in this form, she knew. She could do everything she could before the virus, and a few things she couldn't before her transformation. On the other hand, when she expended a lot of power she'd exhaust her supply of energy at a rapid pace. If she overheated, she'd blow steam. If her self-repair functions were actively repairing her, she'd be barely able to move. Strong electrical and magnetic attacks could bypass some of her defensive capabilities and the right twenty-seven digit code applied on two frequencies simultaneously could paralyze her until the special one just for her reset her.
She was aware of the shifting of Inuyasha nearby, him having fallen asleep during his vigil. She was likewise aware of Sango sharing her bed, their arms touching.
Kagome lifted her head slightly, quickly confirming Inuyasha's presence and then scrutinizing Sango. It was obvious - to her at least - that Sango's own transformation had occurred and her body was now in the post-change rest period. Sango was still herself, still a Demon Slayer, but now she was:
