Kagome lifted her head slightly, quickly confirming Inuyasha's presence and then scrutinizing Sango. It was obvious - to her at least - that Sango's own transformation had occurred and her body was now in the post-change rest period. Sango was still herself, still a Demon Slayer, but now she was an Elf.

It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. After all, the pointed ears, the slight shift in features, and the tendency towards a more lean form were all rather major indicators that anyone could notice... if they weren't from five hundred years in the past. Inuyasha probably knew, if not from his times of watching television before, then from some news cast or another. They were describing the changes enough before she'd fallen ill, and so she was not totally unaware of what was going on, even though she hadn't gotten more than the gist of it.

"Kagome?" Inuyasha whispered as he looked over her.

She gave him a wan little smile. "Inuyasha..."

"You're awake!"

"I know that. Pointing it out with a yell only makes my head hurt..."

"Oh... Sorry... But you had me... er, us... um, them worried for a while. But I knew that you'd pull through."

"Of course."

"So... You get better, you hear?"

Her gaze caught the slight vulnerability that he was trying to hide, and she reached over to grasp his hand with what little strength she had to reassure him.

He started for a moment, and then silently acknowledged her meaning while:
