Things were complicated enough without (the self-declared) Grindelwald's Bane sticking that great big nose of his in.
Grindelwald's Bane, ha, ha, ha. As if he had been the only one who was instrumental in that victory...
But does anybody hear anything at all about all the others who fought the long fight?
Naah, of course not. Tom silently toasts lost--acquaintances--and sighs again.
And that nose of his...Tom thinks of a certain Potion-maker, and groans. No, it probably wouldn't be a good idea to ask Severus if a he and a certain Headmaster happened to be more closely related then shown on the official Books, would it?
Rosemary and Alex were circlating nicely, though Rosemary seemed to be doing most of the talking. From the way she was angling their way across the room, he suspected she was looking for somebody specific, but...
Please let it be the Hermann lookalike she was looking for, Tom petitioned the universe in general, and set across the room.
He didn't think Rosemary could handle a Nadja lookalike, even now. Or rather, especially now.
And a near replica of a 14 year-old Nadja would be even worse...
He knew which face haunted her nightmares. Oh, he did know that, at least...
Scanning, scanning, scanning...Spellwebs hum and do his bidding, but the sheer weight of the people here make things more complicated then they should have been.
Come on, 14 year-old Nadja's face with brownish hair, it shouldn't be that difficult...
And at last, he finds her.
Them.
One of the 2nd story alcoves, tucked away behind some faerie-light trees...
And at the table sat two girls.
The girl on the left. If not Nadja Applefield, age 14-15, in the flesh--a pretty damn good replica, nontheless.
And--
Tom Riddle stops. Stares at something only he can see.
He can't help it.
Heart-shaped face, soft smile, wavy hair and--bright green eyes?
Green?
He'd never known Rosemary at age 14 or 15, but he didn't need to. Not with that face.
Not now.
