"Usagi, why didn't you tell me?" Naru asked.
Mai held up a hand. "Let's go inside first."
Usagi let a tear fall from her eye. "I wanted to tell you, but.... I'll explain in a bit."
As the group of four girls walked along the corridors of Spirit Police Headquarters, Naru thought back to the fight.
"So, you two are stronger than a Sailor Senshi?" Naru asked.
Hikari chuckled, while Mai smiled and replied, "Hardly. I'd say our magical powers are roughly equal."
"But, you won that fight so easily," Naru objected.
"Naru, barring Sailor Senshi and their enemies and allies, who is the strongest fighter you know?"
"Makoto Kino," Naru replied.
Usagi grimaced a bit, but said nothing.
"Could you beat her in a fist fight? Mai asked.
Naru blinked in shock. "What?"
"Could Naru Osaka beat Makoto Kino in a fight?" Mai asked.
Naru gave an amused snort. "No. Makoto studies martial arts. Why did you ask me that question?"
Mai explained, "It's the same thing here. Hikari and I have studied martial arts for most of our lives and have mastered quite a few martial arts styles. Until our parents' deaths derailed it, I was going to try for the title of Grandmaster for Kendo. My little sister is more important than any title. Hikari is the president of her school's fight club. When we come of age, we can reopen our dojo. Neptune is musician who has been tossed into fighting. Uranus is a professional race car driver that does have training in one style of martial arts."
"I see," Naru said. "Your powers just made it so that the four of you were on equal footing."
"Pretty much," Mai agreed. "Skill and power combined against power only. There was also the added bonus that those two were blinded by their arrogance in thinking that our powers weren't equal to theirs. That shifted the advantage over to us even further. We're here."
Mai opened the door to the conference room and let the others go in first. After everyone had sat down, Naru glared at Usagi.
"Why?" Naru asked.
Sailor Moon sighed heavily and looked at the ceiling. "I've always wanted to tell you, but Luna told me it was for the best if no one outside the other Sailor Senshi knew."
Angrily, Naru pointed at Mai and Hikari. "You told them."
Mai said, "She was emotionally upset at the time and it was only a couple days ago."
Naru was curious about that, but still angry
Usagi nodded. "After meeting them, I made up my mind to tell you the truth. There were some personal reasons why I didn't say anything."
"What could they be?"
"I-if-uh. During the fight with Metalia, we...." Usagi stammered.
Naru's face paled, as she saw Usagi stammer. "What is it?"
"I died fighting Metalia," Usagi blurted out. "It was only luck that I and the other four Senshi were revived."
"You died?" Naru whispered.
Usagi stared at the floor as the tears fell. "I've just barely slid through on some of the other battles. Wiseman and Pharaoh 90 are battles that should have killed me, when I faced off against them. I never wanted to tell you that I'm heading off to a fight that will most likely kill me."
In the silence that followed, Mai said, "As to telling me, there was another reason why she felt she could. She already knew I could transform, before she told me."
"So, I'm the first person to find out a Sailor Senshi's identity that isn't powered?" Naru asked. "I'm not counting Doro."
Usagi gave a sad smile. "Actually Katrina and Alan are, but that is due to them working with Sailor V before I even gained my powers."
"Sailor V? You know Sailor V?" Naru asked in surprise.
"She is currently Sailor Venus," Usagi replied.
"Oh."
Sailor Moon said, "And, I had to transform in front Yusuke Amade to save his life and his fiancée's life from a Youma. I wanted to tell you, but not in that way."
Naru stared at Usagi. "Then the girl that album was dedicated to was you?"
Usagi nodded.
"You didn't tell us that, Usagi," Hikari said.
Mai saw a shadow on the window door and stood up. She opened the door and peered around it.
"Doro, could you wait a moment? Usagi and Naru are catching up. This is more important than Makendo at the moment."
"Very well."
After Mai closed the door, Naru said, "Usagi, please tell me the story from the beginning."
"Okay," Sailor moon, replied.
The reincarnated princess of the Moon Kingdom began her tale with meeting the cat with a bandage on her forehead. Naru winced at some of the battles and told her to skip the death of Neflyte, since she knew it already. Sailor Moon nodded, and told of the battles against Beryl and Metallia and how it played out. She explained about her wish to be a normal girl that was prevented by the arrival of the Doom Tree. Sailor Moon went onto the battle with Wiseman that occurred. Naru felt awe for what Usagi had accomplished. Sailor Moon told of the battle that resulted in the revival of Sailor Saturn and what happened afterwards.
"The rest of the story you know," Hikari said impishly.
"Hikari! Behave yourself." Mai said.
Hikari just smiled and looked around.
Sailor Moon stared at Hikari and Mai. "I thought you...."
"Didn't fight?" Mai asked with a smile. "We're sisters. Of course we're going to fight from time to time. Our last fight was about Hikari becoming a Makendo."
"She buried my sword in our yard, so I couldn't find it to transform. We were attacked at our house, so she was forced to dig it up and give it to me," Hikari said. "The only reason she hasn't taken it from me, is because there is that chance that we will get attacked at home again."
"Enough of that," Mai said and looked at Naru. "Doro wants to talk to you now. Personally, I think you should forget about it. You'll be humiliated wearing a Makendo outfit.."
Naru closed her eyes and thought of all the times she was attacked. "I'd rather suffer a little embarrassment rather than being a victim anymore."
Mai's face flushed red. "Well, I can't offer a counter-argument. Just remember, that you asked for this."
"I won't forget," Naru whispered.
Mai opened the door. "Doro, she's ready."
Doro entered the room and nodded respectively to the four girls. "Please follow me."
The group headed to the Makendo Empowerment Room. The featurless mannequin now looked like Naru and appeared to be wearing a green and yellow halter top and green mini-skirt. Starnge white boots were also on it, along with a silver belt. Two crystaline ovals were in the hair. Doro pointed at the mannequin.
"This is a holographic represntation of what your outfit will look like."
Shaking her head, Mai stated, "Bare mid-riff? The outfits keep getting tackier."
"I like mine," Hikari said in objection.
Naru ignored the two and stared at her image. "Not what I was expecting, but I accept."
Doro went over to the machine and press a few buttons. The image of Naru glowed and six beams of light shot towards the image. The colors were orange, blue, brown, white, green, and yellow. When the orange bolt of light struck, the mannequin was enguphed in flames. The blue quenched the fire with water. The brown ebam stronk and the water turned to mud. A blast of wind mixed in with the heated mud via the white beam of light. When the green beam of light hit, the mixture was covered in moss. The final light, yellow, stuck the mannequin with the sound of clashing steel. The mannequin pulsed and at the feet of the mannequin was a golden sword. The mannequin was now back to its featureless state. Doro picked up the sword and handed to Naru, along with a piece of paper.
"What's the paper for?" Naru asked, as she was took both items.
"On the piece of paper are written the words 'Mariyagaran Makendo'. It's to help you remember your transformation phrase."
Usagi said, "You'll look cute in that outfit Naru. Come on try it out."
