Not that he knew it at the moment. As far as he was concerned, it was just a lovely day to be him. The sun was brightly lighting the open air market that he and his son had gone to visit. Delightful smells of cooking food were reaching his nose, and rumbling his belly. Women, young and old, including some rather gorgeous specimens were giving that hooded look that was becoming oh so familiar. He knew that soon enough they'd have to be running away, possibly via the marina that they'd passed earlier in that day when the sunlight had been glinting off of it.
During this warm and comfortable day, he could not see anything possibly going wrong.
Of course, that was probably the first clue that something was going to happen. A part of him did worry about such things, but he couldn't use that to dismiss the fact that the hair on the back of his neck was going up. He could tell that something was coming, but he wasn't sure exactly what it was, or even if it was a bad feeling or not. It was just staying on the edge of his awareness, and he could almost swear that he knew that this was the sort of thing that only a few people out of a select group would feel. That was for certain, as he was certain that it was a true feeling, and one that someone had to understand.
Yet, it got even stranger when his son stopped in the middle of the walkway and started looking around. The boy seemed to be searching for something, and apparently knew what it was. However, he was not letting his father in on the secret, and so it was proving to be a rather frustrating experience all around.
"Boy, what are you looking for?" he demanded. "We are out looking for anything."
"I know, but there is somethin' goin' on," Ranma replied.
"What do you mean?"
"Someone's out there."
"Really? Well, look around you. There are lots of people around."
"Not like that one."
Genma turned and looked to see a person staring right back at them, someone who he did not yet know was the bearer of the True Rune:
