Legacy of Seras: Life Without Blood [Episode 143568]

by PsyckoSama

As the pair of vampires walked through the halls of Malek's Bastion, Seras could not help but be unsettled. There was something not right here. The entire building stank of not death, but rather the utter lack of life.

"I know you are here, demons. The stench of death clings to you."

Seras jumped, earning a harsh scowl from Kain.

"What now, woman?"

"I was just not expecting it, that’s all…"

Kain scowled once again.

"If you are unable to contain your dread, than leave."

She shook her head. "No, its not that, its just that this place is so… empty. It has me on edge."

Kain paused for a moment and looked around. "Yes. The interior of this place is as cold and sterile as the snow outside… But I see no reason to fret, all that is contains are empty suits of armor."

Seras' eyes widened as she though she saw movement.

"Kain…"

"What is it now woman?"

"Get down!" she exclaimed as one of the armored suits lunged at her companion.

With a might shove she pushed Kain to the side, barely saving him from being wounded by the phantom's weapon. Drawing her dagger, she parried the armor's blade, giving her time to draw her rapier.

Kain sneered as he stood on his feet. He could really not tell what angered him more. A cowardly attack from behind, or how that accursed woman had saved him from injury in such a humiliating fashion. He sneered as he watched the other armor begin to move. While he could not rightfully fault Seras for her action, it did annoy him greatly, but rather than become angry at her, he would vent his frustration on Malek's wraiths.

The tow Vampires battled with the suits of armor for what seemed like an eternity. Against human enemies it would have been a short battle, but these were not human. They had no easy to injure vitals, rather they were forced to destroy the armor, a task which would have been tedious in even the most forgiving of conditions, turned into a dreadful task when faced with the exceptional skill of their opponents.

After the last suit of armor fell to the crushing power of Kain's mace, the pair slumped to the ground. Both were bloodied, abet slightly by the experience.

"This not going to be as easy as last time…" Seras grumbled.

"Indeed," Kain replied, "Thought it is not unexpected. It is only natural that the Guardian of the Circle to be better defended than the mewing weaklings that he protects."

"Well I just hope he's more bark than his bight," Seras muttered to herself.

A dark chucked resounded through the castle. "My warriors are but shadows of my skill, child."

"Bloody wonderful…"

Kain scowled and stood to his feet. "We must press on."

Seras sighed and stood up. Together, the pair continued into the next room.
