Worldgate SG-N: Some things take time. [Episode 144171]

by Black & White

"So, the gate's finally working." The Third Hokage shook his head wonderingly as he set down Kakashi's report.

"Well, somewhat. The gate is one way only, and there's some serious concern about being able return. When the SGC tried to dial in from another of their worlds using the original control devices, it simply refused to accept all nine symbols."

"Yes, the . . . DHD they called it." Sarutobi set down the report. "Still, this isn't something that directly affects us yet. Not until two way travel is perfected." He looked back at the report, then looked up thoughtfully. "Mmm, If that other world perfects it in time, we will have to offer them an invitation to the Chunin Exam."

Kakashi blinked. "It's time for the next exam already?"

"Ok, Daniel. You've come back from that planet with a dozen crates of things you found. Is it stuff that will help us figure out this parallel universe stuff?"

"Well, I've translated less than .01% of it, but what I've identified does suggest that the ancients and some other race used that planet as the main staging ground for Dimensional exploration."

"Other race. Asgard? Nox? Furling?"

"No, none of those . . . The references are to . . . I think that they were a race in another universe that the Ancients contacted. I haven't found a reference to their name yet."

"Oh . . ." Jack sat back. "So, this will help us?"

"Well, there were some artifacts that the labs looking over, but more importantly, The two data crystals I found seem to contain notes written by ancient scientists and explorers as they traveled to other universes. There's a lot to sort through, but there will definitely be gate addresses, possibly with descriptions of the worlds at the time the ancients traveled there."

"And possibly a way to dial in using a DHD?"

". . . I'll need to translate some more of it."

"Ok, how's it going?" the head of The Fire Countries Stargate Project asked one of the technicians.

The technician looked toward the scale model of the Stargate mounted on the desk, and then reached forward and picked up a remote. He pressed a button and suddenly an Iris extended inward, sealing the Stargate model. "That's what we'll be incorporating into our Stargate." He picked up a clipboard. "Those SGC folks were kind enough to provide us with the basic mechanical details. It will take some time to have the parts manufactured, and their assembly will require a lot of careful placement, but as they said, it's essential insurance in case the wrong types decide to visit us."

"True, if there's some sort of Guld equivalent in our universe."

"Goa'uld," another technician interjected.
