The day seemingly went by both too fast and too slow for Hotaru. While she was very excited about her first adventure, she was at the same time fearing her first adventure. Even the seemingly ever-present bullies after school were not able to dampen her enthusiasm, as they gave her a chance to practise the Clouded Mind against hostile people, as well as conquer her fear. The bullies were confused when their favorite target suddenly disappeared right before their eyes. Their confusion changed to fear when the seemingly omnipresent chuckling came from everywhere and nowhere. The bullies took one step back, then another, and then broke into a panic and ran. What their clouded minds could not see was Hotaru standing next to a nearby tree, chuckling to herself.

”Tadaima!” Hotaru called out as she arrived home. “Welcome home, Hotaru-chan!” her adoptive father replied. “Papa! You’re home! How was your trip?” she replied, while thinking ‘This is going to make things difficult’. Hotaru’s father seemed to miss the fleeting frown while replying “Successful, but I’m just glad to be home again. Dinner should be ready in about an hour.”
