Rui asked, "Where are we going?"
"First to get an adapter from the store and then were going to head to Johto. The last thing I recall reading when I was still with Team Snagem was that Team Rocket was going to build two bases in Johto. One near the Whirl Islands and the other near something called the Lake of Rage," Wes replied.
"We should talk to Justy before we leave," Rui said.
Wes grunted and headed for the store with Rui right behind him. Wes quickly found the Computer Core/Pokedex adapter and purchased it. He then purchased a couple rolls of customized stickers for his Pokeballs. The pair then headed into the Pre Gym and saw Justy watching over a match between two of his students. Wes waited until the battle was over and went up to Justy.
"Wes, it's good to see you again," Justy said. "What are you doing here?"
"I need information about the Johto regions. I might pick up some wild Pokemon."
Justy frowned, "Your P*DA can have a full Pokedex put on it, but you will be out of range of the Orre computers."
"I am taking my Computer Core with me, so I won't have that problem," Wes countered. "Are there any contests or tournaments where you get something more than just a trophy?"
"The Bug Catching contest near Goldenrod City that grants you the bug Pokemon you caught and a Sun Stone, but you're probably too old. There is also a Lake Ball competition where you can win a year's supply of chocolate and there is Pokemon Sumo where you can get a year's supply of Pokemon Food and a King's Rock. There might be others, but it has been a while since I read up on Johto," Justy said.
Wes nodded.
"You should take the Gym Challenge in Johto and make your way to the Silver Conference."
"Compete for a worthless hunt of metal?" Wes asked. "Eh. Not really interested."
"True," Justy said slowly. "However, it would be good training for Single matches. You'll have to sign up in New Bark Town for the Johto League, so you can compete in some of the other contests anyway."
"Hmm. I'll think about it," Wes replied.
Justy nodded, grabbed a map of his desk and handed it to Wes. "This will show you how to get to the Johto Regions from here."
Wes nodded his thanks to Justy. Wes and Rui left the Pre Gym and headed off to the engine shaped restaurant/store: The Outskirt Stand. Wes replenished his supplies of various types of Pokeballs (Net, Nest, Timer, Normal, Great, and Ultra balls). After eating a meal, the two boarded Wes' cycle and headed to the Johto regions. About half a day from the northern edge of the Orre regions, the scenery changed to forest and grasslands over the desolate wasteland known as the Orre Regions. As they rested each night, Wes' Umbreon kept watch over the two. Near the end of the third day, the cycle pulled into New Bark Town. Before they could find the Pokecenter, a woman dressed in a female version of the officers of Pyrite Town rode up on a straight motorcycle.
"Hello Officer," Wes said, crossing his arms in front of him. "Is there a problem?"
"You are out past curfew in the middle of a town."
Wes and Rui looked at each other.
"Curfew?" Wes asked. "Really different than the Orre regions."
"Orre?" Officer Jenny asked, with a shocked look on her face.
"Yes. Orre," Wes said. "Phenac City, Pyrite Town, Agate Village, The Under, Mount Battle, Realgam Colosseum, Eclo Canyon. That Orre."
"Uh. We don't get too many people from there. I'm Officer Jenny. Your vehicle is...."
"Mine," Wes replied. "It was built from scavenged parts. I like it."
"Well, you won't be able to find too many wild Pokemon while riding on that thing," Jenny said a bit rattled.
Wes shrugged. "I don't have a garage to stuff it in and it would have been too far to walk from Orre. Don't worry about me, I'll just drive out of town and set up camp. As to wild Pokemon, things are different Orre. There are none."
Rui just smiled and shook her head.
The two travelers from Orre did as Wes said and set up camp just outside the limits of New Bark Town. Wes set up a low burning campfire and looked at the stars.
"Wes, you really should try to get the Gym badges of each town we pass through. As Justy said, it will be good training. Think of it as something to do, while hunting Team Rocket."
"Hmm. True."
"By the way, which Pokemon is in your sixth slot? I know who are the first two. They would be Espeon and Umbreon. The next three, I can guess."
"Meganium. I was debating on her or Noctowl," Wes said, holding up an almost pure white Pokeball.
Wes put the white Pokeball away and pulled out three Pokeballs with an odd white H on the red part of Pokeball. "You are probably correct on your guess of the other three, since there are only five Pokemon that I used Timer Balls to catch. Tyranitar and Metagross are in the Computer Core."
Rui smiled and nodded. "Uh huh. You should switch out to use the others in Gym matches. It will give the Gym leaders a slight chance of winning. I'm talking about your Espeon and Umbreon especially"
Wes grunted and made sure the fire was completely out. He had Umbreon stand watch once more, along with Meganium. The next day Wes and Rui showed up at the Pokecenter for Wes to register for the Johto league.
