Of course, she had known that this would happen, as she was not a stupid girl. They had married, knowing full well that his father would likely take him away, but they hadn't wanted to inform either of their fathers. After all, both men had their own problems, and she'd been hoping that the time would come when she could just let her Dad know what she had done.
But then, she really hadn't thought about it, as she had been too much in love to really worry about such things. Ranma and she had met not at school, or through families, but by a martial arts tournament. It was funny to think now, but she had at first been annoyed by the guy sitting near her in the stands who'd been seemingly been so bored and acting superior to those competing. She had actually yelled at him for that, but his response had not been what she'd expected. Instead of some loud mouthed wannabe, he'd been able to actually analyze what those on the mat were doing wrong.
That had opened up the opportunity to talk about the Art, and she found something that had impressed her a lot. Unlike the guys who tried to impress her, or treated her like some sort of prize, he'd actually treated her like a human being. He was clueless about a lot of things and had a bit of an ego problem, but he also didn't treat anyone by any standard that had come out of some magazine or movie. His behavior had been open, expressive, and actually really refreshing.
Akane supposed that was when she'd started to fall in love with him. For some reason, she couldn't stop going to see him, and looked forward to each time that they could arrange to meet. He was warm and obviously looking for affection, which she wanted to give him. In return, he'd felt responsible and very protective of her, not because of some kind of inane show of how strong he was, but simply because he couldn't see himself not being there for her. They'd allowed themselves to fall into a deep and close bond, and when they'd married, there had been no regrets about doing it. Even when they'd been apart, just knowing that he'd been out there had been a reassurance against her troubles, like with the trouble that Kuno stirred up.
And now, she was finding out that her father actually wanted her, or at least, one of his daughters, to marry Ranma. That was a shock, to say the least, and she wondered about what would have happened, had she simply let her father know about her relationship. It had been wonderful for them to meet in cafes and share small, intimate meals together, but to have been able to be his girlfriend, and then his wife, openly was something that might have been something that she might have liked, to say the least.
"Akane? Is something the matter?" Soun asked his youngest daughter.
His words jolted her out of her remembrances, and she shook her head. "Oh, no, Dad. I'm fine."
"Are you certain?"
"It's nothing bad. My mind just wandered."
"Oh... Alright."
Sighing in relief, Akane knew that she'd just warded off a problem with her father. Yet, she was aware that her sisters would know the truth, as they knew about her true marital status. But she knew that they would support her, as they had for all this time. Yet, she was aware of the fact that things might be about to change very quickly.
Knowing that didn't seem to bother her as much as it might have though, as she was actually looking forward to the reunion with her husband, while:
