Those who could summon had a variety of jobs that they could apply themselves to. The more powerful a summons, the more the summoner could accomplish.
In the wake of the Great War, there had been areas deforested. Land had been poisoned. Rivers and lakes dried up. Entire cities wiped out.
With the right summons, you could reforest burned out areas. You could replenish the soil. You could accomplish much with the right kind of summons.
Of course, this was the sixth reset that the one called "Professor Oak" had been through. He even remembered a series of novels that one of the others had written two resets ago. Some of the details had been changed for publication and the story, such as the existence of secondary rabbit holes and the datakeys.
Of course, Professor Oak also expected to recognize the pokegirl. Not only had he become familiar with various summons over the years, he was used to seeing certain individuals or variants of them in each lifetime. There were also themes and elements that went with each lifetime. Excalibur had been a sword in one universe, a spaceship in another, and a summons in this one. Artur had been a boy king in at least two lifetimes, and a captain in one. Yet, as far as he could tell, Artur was a recurring character but NOT one of those who remembered. Even bringing a datakey hadn't unlocked any prior incarnations, so that was something still puzzling Merlin.
Now here was Ash, whom he suspected had been a girl named "Osaka" or Ayumu Kasuga in a previous life.
Except there were things different about Ash. Ash had gotten up early. Ash was walking in a normal fashion, not that silly duckwalk he'd been doing for several years now.
Could it be that Ash was someone who remembered? Well, that wasn't exactly clear. There were people who abruptly changed their lives for any number of reasons. It was an intriguing thought though.
As it was, Professor Ash was surprised to see that the form in front of Ash was quite recognizable. It was:
