"A space station?" asked the Taiwanese representative.
"Yes. As it is, we need to come to an understanding, as the current methods will take years."
"For what?"
"To help your peoples see what our belief systems and reasons are. As well as what we can give to you. But this is merely information, and giving that away doesn't do much to help either yourselves or me."
Leaning forward, the German raised a brow. "But to build a station in space could be a major undertaking. Would it not be easier to simply build it on our planet itself?"
"It would, but tell me. Where on your world is a place where that isn't controlled by one nation or another?"
"Well, there is... that is... You do have a point."
"Exactly. There is only one place on this globe that would fit, and it is too cold to be simply used, which would lead us with the same problem that we'd had before."
"I see...."
"Which means that we'd have to work hard," the Japanese member of the group commented. "But why come here at all?"
"We are refugees, fleeing a war on a scope that I hope that you never see."
"Oh? And you could not fight them with your powers, or your technology?"
"They fought with their own powers, and technology. And is was the type of war that makes you either winners, or dead, if you fight."
It took a moment for her words to sink in, but when they did, the various representatives winced and nodded in understanding.
April Konnors looked up at the translucent image of the other woman. "Then what do you want from us?"
"At best? A small part of your world where we could live in peace. We want nothing more than to have a place to call 'home'."
"I'd think that most of us would."
"I am glad that you understand. But with a 'space station', we could meet on neutral ground, and have a place to have negotiations, relations, and discoveries with one another," Ditae told them.
Each of the Committee looked at the others, and they considered the woman's words, while:
