Magitech: Runing Along The Road [Episode 148836]

by Kestral

It was a human-dominant world. Most summonings faded.

The key word here was 'most'.

As noted earlier (116016) - there were elves and various fae, dwarves and furred folk, rock trolls and ogres, pixies and gremlins, golems and galatea, and various nonhumans scattered about.

Some were reclusive, sticking to their own communities. The largest community of dwarves, for example, had warrens that extended throughout the mountains of Norway. Human-sized people usually didn't get very far, mainly because the tunnels weren't sized for anyone over five feet in height. Elves, for another example, had set up a large community in Ireland years ago but had mainly immigrated to Canada since then.

Golems were rare in some parts, as they were not the most clever of things. Tireless and strong, but lacking in an independent will and the ability to make judgements. For the most part.

The thing about most of the summoned races was that they could sense magic. Many were accomplished at some form of the Art, though the range of ability lacked the peaks and troughs of humankind. Over the centuries, the sons of man and the daughters of magic had discovered that they could find pleasure in each other's embrace and that any offspring tended to be a little bit more powerful in the magic-wielding department than was typical of the nonhuman parent.

So it was with a young lad named Ryoga Hibiki. His father was a human - a travelling salesman who had a Navigator's Rune. With it, he could find his way almost anywhere. He was gone most of the time though. His mother was long gone. Not dead, though. Returned to her people. She had been a rock troll. It was something Ryoga was a little sensitive about because rock trolls were not exactly the most beautiful or graceful of individuals.

Ryoga Hibiki had something of his mother's people though. His strength and endurance were literally superhuman. His ability to withstand injury just as incredible. If he planted his feet and braced himself, he wasn't going to be moved without heavy construction equipment being used.

The fifteen year old wandered the world, looking for suitable opponents. Eventually he hoped to become a pro wrestler or professional fighter, but there were others out there who were in his level at least. He had to train well to be able to increase his skills to be able to compete in that venue.

Which is why he found all these blacksuited thugs looking for some Japanese kid to be quite intriguing.

Ranma had the Brisingamen Rune, one of the True Runes. Genma had a faulty unique Rune - the Chameleon Rune. They were in Greece, being pursued by the wielder of the Draupnir True Rune. Things were about to happen though that would add more strangeness to the travelling pair.

It all started when Genma spotted a Japanese tour group passing through the area.

Naturally he followed along in their wake, it being a basic misdirection tactic. When someone asked about a large Japanese man with glasses, having four of them around made his identification a little trickier.

What was about to interrupt the usual goings on and slap Genma upside the head was that among these Japanese tourists was a little girl.

While Genma was being coyly flirted with by one of the Japanese women, he wasn't paying attention to a similar development going on with Ranma. Fourteen year old Ranma himself was having trouble with the unexpected attention being paid to him by:
