He just never thought that his son would get feminine attention like he did.
That wasn't because he didn't think that the boy could be worth it, of course. After all, he was able to see that his son was going to be a handsome young man, and he had quite a bit of pride in that fact. His boy was going to be very manly, especially since his father was such a ladykiller, intentionally or not. He just never thought about that sort of thing happening to his son. The biggest reaction that the boy would get would be for the women to want to take care of him, and the idea that any of them would ever hit on him was preposterous.
However, Genma would be surprised to know that his son was feeling especially nervous, and was trying not to fidget in his seat. Having not had much experience with girls, Ranma was not able to know what he was expected to do in this sort of situation. All he could do was try to make the actions that he thought were appropriate, and hope to heaven that he was right. As it was, he didn't know quite how to handle it. He was trying his best, but he was well aware of the fact that this was probably his first time of getting this sort of interest from someone of the opposite gender.
And he would have been extra surprised if he had know that the girl who was so focused on him was someone that he might have known had his life gone on in his home universe. Instead, he was on this bus, and a version of that girl was paying a great deal of attention to him. It was something that neither he, nor she, knew about, and they had no reason to even consider that at the moment.
As a result, Ranma was trying to look confident while glancing shyly at the girl next to him, who happened to be named:
