“It’s a town near the middle of the desert called Lior,” Al told her since Ed was still looking through the small journal that contained some of Brianna’s design schematics for some of her alchemic inventions. From what he could tell by reading over Ed’s shoulder most of them seemed basic, but innovative machines that used alchemy as a catalyst and power source to complete the task they were designed for.
“Mustang pointed me to a few reports of some guy there claiming to be a prophet that could perform miracles. Most of it seemed like rumors about basic alchemy that had grown out of hand, but some of them mentioned how this guy could supposedly raise the dead,” Edward continued after finishing the page he was on and turning to another. So far he hadn’t found anything that was all that impressive, not for a million bucks from his account anyway, although a breathing mask that helped transmute oxygen from water seemed pretty innovative to a guy who couldn’t swim. “I know rumors could have made this guy look better than he is, but there’s no way hearsay could have cooked that up.”
Brianna sighed and sunk into her seat. Great, so we’re following a lead from some guy who heard it from his buddy, who got it from cousin, that was told by his friend’s, barber’s bartender. Yeah, THAT’S going to point us to a philosopher’s stone, the half-werecheetah thought to herself with a frown. “So what happens if this so called prophet’s followers decide to burn us at the stake if this guy really has the stone and we try to steal it, and DON’T tell me your only plan is to make a run for the train with me carrying your half-metal butt.”
“Don’t be silly Brianna-” Whatever Alphonse was going to say was quickly cut off when Edward slammed the journal shut and held it up in front of Al’s face. “Yeah,” Ed cut in, “there’s no train station in Lior, we’ll have to hire a cab or something at the nearest place this train stops and go from there.”
Brianna sank even further in her seat when she heard they didn't even have an escape plan. “This can not end well.”
