Seeing nothing too bad, though the glossed eyes showed that there was something wrong, Usagi carried the black cat back into the house. At her mother's glance, she replied "I'm gonna help it get better! I owe the kitty that much."
"That's fine, dear," Usagi's mother replied before returning to her dusting. "Just no more singing."
"Yes, mom," Usagi replied, before heading up the stairs and back into her room. Shutting her door, Usagi laid Luna on a pillow and sat on the bed next to her, watching the cat.
Finally, Luna stirred, and then sat up, a look of great sadness on her face. "Oh, you poor, poor girl! To have your voice destroyed by some evil curse! I had hoped to find you before something like this could happen!"
"Cursed?" Usagi blinked as that thought worked through her head. "I'm cursed?" She blinked a few more times, before looking at Luna. "Wait, how can you talk, anyway? You're a cat!"
Luna looked at Usagi and gave her a catty smile. "I'm translating for you, in your mind. You hear me speak because I want you to hear me. I'm just so talented!"
"You can talk into people's minds?"
Luna nodded her head. "Yes, and I can hear others, too." Luna winced "Especially when they scream. There's someone in trouble Usagi! We have to go help her!"
"Huh, what, we? What do you mean we?" Usagi blinked a few times. "And who's in danger?"
"I don't know who! I've never met her before!" Luna jumped off of the bed and scurried toward the door. "We have to defeat the monsters of the Negaverse! Come on, Usagi-chan!"
