"This is too easy," Zelgadis muttered. "Somehow, Lina Inverse got away from us and now we find the statue just lying in a river?"
Zelgadis used his magic to retrieve the statue. He handed off to Dilgear and motioned for Zolf and Rodimus to stay.
"Dilgear, you take the statue back and the troops back to Rezo," Zelgadis said. "I'm going to help Zolf with his vendetta against Lina."
The troll-werewolf nodded. "Very well."
Dilgear motioned for the troops to follow him. Zelgadis and his friends watched them leave. After they were far enough away, Zelgadis breathed a sigh of relief.
"I don't believe for one moment that Lina Inverse would drop the statue like that, unless...."
"Unless she found the Philosopher's Stone and removed it and then dropped the statue off to throw us off her trail," Zolf finished.
"Correct. I also want to know how she managed to teleport out of our hands while unconscious," Zelgadis said. "I also don't want Rezo involved in this. So, I sent Dilgear back and claimed to be helping you with your vendetta. I have a feeling that that answer about her escape is going to be more important than the Stone. We'll let Lina believe that she has suceeded in throwing us off her trail and follow quietly. Once we know whow she did it, we'll make our move."
The trio left the river and resumed their chase of Lina Inverse.

Inside the gem, Lina gave a sneeze and looked around. She shook her head, as she went back to looking at the stone she had found inside the statue.
Adressing the rock, Lina said, "Why is it when I pick you up that I feel those intense waves?"
A slight shifting of her clothing caused Lina to look down. She saw that she was once again in the harem get up. She rolled her eyes skyward in exasperation.
"At least I've set it up that I'll be in my old travelling outfit when I'm released from the gem," Lina thought.
Lina cocked her head in concentration. "Right. When Gourry is about ready to release me, my clothes will change into the travelling outfit. It'll give me a second to prepare before appearing outside. Since Gourry is storing me in his ring until he reaches Atlas, I went back to this get up."
Lina bit her lip as she felt troubled by something. "There is something about that last thought that bothers me, but I can't figure out what. It might not be important."
Lina shook her head and went back to studying the rock up until she stiffened and marched robotically to her bed and went to sleep.
