But when the new girl looked like the one that was coming into this school, it was something that many guys thanked the deity of their choice for giving them this sort of bounty coming to a school.
Miss Haruna scowled as she looked over at how the boys were all perking up and leering at the new girl. That was wholly inappropriate, even if the girl in question had a better figure than she did. Slamming a textbook onto a desk, she glared at them all. "Get a hold of yourselves! This is a classroom, not some club!"
The boys were jolted out of their visual examinations of the girl that had just walked into their classroom, and managed to look somewhat ashamed, especially when the other girls joined in on giving them admonishing looks.
"Now that we have that settled, why don't you tell us about yourself?"
"Umm... Okay. My name is... Sayuri, and I just came to Japan after being in a far away place. I like it here, and I hope that I do well in the school. It's nice to meet you all," the transfer student said, following up with an awkward bow.
"Well, it's nice to have you here, and hopefully you'll get some good experiences here."
"It'll probably be better than what I've known."
"That's the spirit. However, we have to get class started. Which means that getting to know her will have to wait until later. Take the seat next to Usagi. She's the one who's... raising her hand."
"Yes, ma'am."
Blinking slightly, Haruna barely acknowledged Sayuri's movements, as her mind was still a little stuck on the fact that Miss Tsukino was actually conscious during class. Perhaps, she'd decided to turn over a new leaf. But it was more likely that she'd just been tuned in to the new arrival, since the girl was a friendly sort. But one could have their own hopes, no matter how unlikely they seemed to be.
Had Luna been aware that her thoughts paralleled those of a certain teacher's somewhat, she would have been.... unsurprised, as she did have her own reservations over what was going on. Putting a yoma, even one that seemed to have gone to the good side, could be like tempting a fox by putting it in a hen house. However, the creature seemed to be working out well enough, and nothing untoward had happened, so far as she could see from her perch on a tree outside of the classroom window.
Yet, it would have been nice if her charge could actually stay conscious during class time when there was actual learning going on.
Even though she knew that it was only natural to feel jealous over the new girl's figure, Naru felt a bit guilty for being the sort of girl who paid attention to such things. It was just a fact of life that girls like her were a bit self conscious about their figures, which made for a lot of fad diets and exercise, when this girl looked like she didn't need to worry about it. Usagi was apparently friendly with the newcomer though, and if she knew someone who could connect with people, it was definitely her blonde friend. Of course, this 'Sayuri' girl seemed to be nice enough, and the fact that she seemed to be followed by a bunch of boys who were all clearly looking over the way that the blouse stretched at the chest and floated about the waist, and the skirt flowed around shapely legs seemed to be rather disgusting.
Marching over to the transfer student, she put herself between the girl and the number of boys there. "They're nothing but pigs. But how are you?"
"I'm... fine," Sayuri replied, "But you are?"
"I'm Naru, one of Usagi's friends."
"OH! Yes. It's nice to meet you. She described you...."
"She did? You two know each other?"
"Only recently. I came to the city, and she helped me."
"Sounds like her."
"It does?"
"Yeah, it does."
"Isn't that the truth," commented another girl. "But this friend is different."
Sayuri blinked at her. "What do you mean?"
"That.... That.... How do you look like that?"
"Magic?"
"Very funny."
"I didn't mean to be. I don't know why I wound up like this."
A third girl stared at her. "Are you kidding?"
"Why would I be?"
"You had to have something to do with your looks. They're.... How can I get a chest like yours?"
"I didn't do anything special to get... this."
The second girl to speak sighed and pressed her lips together. "But you do have to admit that you could get a lot of guys like that."
"I guess...."
"Aren't you going to chase guys once you've settled into here?"
"No, I'm not. I won't chase anyone here. Don't want to. I came here because it's supposed to help me handle things in the future."
"Then you're...."
"Trying to be a good girl, and not cause any problems."
That made the other girls turn to each other and blink.
"What? It's what I want to do."
"Well, you came to the right place," Naru told her, looping a friendly arm around the transfer student. "That's a good idea for getting along around here."
"Really?"
"Definitely," said a girl who'd been standing nearby, and they each nodded in confirmation.
Sayuri looked at each of them, and gave a tentative smile, while:
