She didn't notice the cannister underfoot, which she stepped on and which began motion immediately - throwing off her balance.
She didn't notice that on the debris-strewn table, was a large syringe filled with something that looked like purple Gatorade.
She didn't notice the surveillance cameras watching her from three angles.
She DID notice that the large syringe rolled off the table and slammed needle-first into her right foot.
"OUCHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" proclaimed Akane, because said needle went straight through her shoe and into the tissue underneath. Reaching down, she grabbed and pulled the offending thing out, her eyes getting slightly wider and she realized it was now an EMPTY syringe with a dribble of blood and oddly flourescent fluid glittering at the tip.
Had she been inclined towards calm, gentle, contemplation and thought-before-action - she would have realized that running in circles around the room - squawking like a chicken - was only going to increase her heart rate and spread the substance through her circulatory system. Had she sat down and thought about it, trying to put her foot in her mouth and sucking the poison out was NOT likely to be successful.
Her heartrate was still up from running around the room and squawking when she gave up on sucking the poison out because she:
A) felt ill, meaning the poison was already going through her body.
B) heard machine guns being fired.
Akane ran (some more), exiting the lab (incidentally making a big hole in one wall as she went through it rather than spend time climbing back out the window) and finding a nice quiet abandoned building to hide in. By the time she got there she felt hot and heavy and yet oddly like she was floating. She hid herself, never realizing that when she awoke she would have superpowers. Never realizing that AIM would also realize that the girl (possibly due to her genetic background) had not died horribly like all the previous test subjects.
