The problem was that everytime it had been tested, it had resulted in the death of the test subject. Except one.
The girl who had been in the lab MIGHT have died later, except that a girl apparently sculpted of some reddish metal had been spotted four hours later in the general vicinity.
This was deemed VERY interesting by the criminal scientists involved. Operating theory was that something in the thief's genetic structure had allowed her to adapt instead of coming apart. It was very much hoped that they could find the thief, and particularly any family she might have.
Ranma landed on the top of a building and smiled. THIS was a rush. However, would it allow him to fight energy draining monsters? Maybe not. Still, it raised his hopes. If THIS was possible, then there might be a way out there.
First, though, he'd touch base with home. Let Ami know what was going on. Then he could fly to Tibet or some place and see if he could find any of those hidden monastaries of martial artists.
"Well, Akane?" asked Nabiki, eyebrow raised. "Let's see this martial arts technique you're planning on using to fight 'monsters'."
Kasumi poured tea. Her father merely hmmmphed.
"Okay," said Akane. "Tendo School Of Martial Arts Special Manuever. Armored Skin!" Schinnnnnnnnnnng!
Nabiki dropped her rice cracker. Kasumi's tea ended up missing the cup entirely. Soun fell over.
KLUNG! went one fist into the palm of the other hand. Akane grinned, showing teeth of a slightly whiter shade of metal than the reddish chrome of her skin. "Neat huh?"
The three other Tendos circled her, checking out the odd 'special technique'. Akane's metal skin was hard and unyielding, and nearly smooth. Each muscle group was defined by a line on that metal skin, otherwise it was nearly slick. It didn't feel cold though, comfortably warm was more like it.
Once her obviously shaken family had returned to their seats, Akane shifted back. "I can only hold it for about an hour. I haven't had a chance to really try out what I can do that way. I seem to be a little slower, but a lot stronger."
Nabiki considered that her sister had somehow become the Girl Of Steel. Did that mean that in the Western manga fashion - supervillains were running around already?
Kasumi wondered if she could stretch the budget for some metal polish.
