Restart:Missing Persons: Problems With Science [Episode 151414]

by Kender

Ranma smiled, pleased. THIS he could understand. The smile faded as he determined that the "corruptive agent" was something like a superadaptive virus combining something called a "stem cell" and a virus carrier that had been intended to replicate the stem thingie. At least that was what he thought that it was, as he had never been big on biology. Fortunately, what was written was reasonably simple, as it put things in a form that he could actually understand. By what he could tell it had killed off most of his species, though it had managed to leave some alive.

It hit him then that the cold that he'd had only a few days earlier might have actually saved his life. If he ever got the sniffles again, then he'd be extra happy for whatever resistance that would give him. He had never thought that being sick could be good.

But that made him interested in just what this thing did. As he had never been a big student of science in the first place, it was a pretty big problem to be able to figure out what these things were supposed to do. Tapping keys, he put in his query, and got back information as to what happened to them. Apparently, it caused some sort of mutations in people that left bodily systems in bad situations. It caused all sorts of damage as it overrode the body's own system, and it did so damn quickly.

And when he saw just how it would have left Akane's body, he wasn't so certain that he'd actually have any problem with it having been destroyed. There was no way that he'd condemn her to going through that. Heck, he wouldn't even like it if Kuno went through it, and he'd wished really bad things on that moron before.

However, that still left him with some big problems, one of which was that he had no idea as to why he was the only one who was around. Even if everyone else he knew was in the tubes, there should have been people around who'd made the damned things, and put those he knew into the things. He seriously doubted that they'd made it themselves, though the people that had might have joined them.

Of course, he didn't know who they were, or why they'd left only him around. It wasn't like he was able to do much, but he thought that he at least rated a message or something like that. If nothing else, there had to be the possibility that someone would find this place. Then again, he still had no idea how they'd come up with technology at this level, and he'd never heard about it.

Frowning slightly, he considered what he could do, and decided that he would:
