It would have been nice to be able to have matched her mother's abilities though. All through her childhood, she'd seen her mother as so wonderful and great that she'd wanted nothing more than to be able to be like her. Even now she could hear the gentle tones of her mother as she'd taught her to use her powers. She didn't want to hurt anyone with her powers, but it would rather nice to be able to do things like move cars as easily as her mother had.
Yet, to have the full Daxamite set of abilities would have meant that she would have had to leave the planet as well. That was unacceptable, not only because she would have had to leave her home, but because she'd have to leave her father. He might have been able to go, but abandoning his heritage was something that he was loathe to do. Having fallen in love with and married an alien did speak of his ability to accept others, but she wasn't certain if he'd be able to survive leaving his homeworld, and that wasn't simply because of the dangers off world.
Of course, both of her sisters had their own reasons for wanting more power, but they both understood the reasons for secrecy. Such knowledge just didn't stop Akane wanting strength on her mother's level to pound a certain boy with, or Nabiki from wondering what it would be like to have the advantages of those powers.
But things could not be changed, and so she let it be. What she did have made housework so much easier, and she did like the idea of being able to literally float around, demurely of course.
But this was not time to be going over such old thoughts. Things were this way already, and she couldn't help how the situation had come about. That would not be helpful, as she could not go back in time to fix them. She was happy with the parents that she had, and the life she lived. Other things could be dealt with as best they could be, and she was certain that everything would work out in the end. It was not as if worrying so much about it would fix the fact that there was such a nasty boy at the high school, or that they had such problems with lead. Rather, she had to make the best of things, and at the moment, that meant that she had to clean.
Picking up the family room table by a leg, she made certain to hold it up over her head. Doing so made it easier to get underneath it to clean without having to make more work in moving it about. Not that her home was ever unclean, as she didn't have to have any superpowers to make sure that was the case. They just made things easier.
So, she proceeded to make certain that she got every little bit of dirt, while:
