Unfortunately, that would seriously disappoint her father, who had apparently been waiting for this day for a very long time. It seemed that he'd even had all sorts of images running through his head, from what the meeting would be like, to their future married state. When he'd find out that all his hopes and fantasies were not going to happen like he'd wanted, it was going to cause him a lot of grief.
But the thing was that he'd never said anything, so they'd never expected that they were going to be marrying anyone like he wanted, never mind doing so with their friend. As a result, there wasn't exactly any real reason for them to have wanted to stop the marriage, had they desired to do so.
Instead, Ranma Saotome had already met, fell in love with, and married someone else, who happened to be:
