Her friend, who had never shown much interest in the realm of book learning, had gone and married a teacher.
She knew that it was one of those sorts of relationships that boys tended to fantasize over. Being able to have a 'beautiful young teacher' was enough for them to sigh contentedly over, but their imaginations supplied fantasies where said instructor would fall into some sort of relationship with them. Perhaps it would be something pure and loving, something where the woman took the schoolboy under her 'wing', or where the teacher became the submissive one. Whatever the little daydreams that they had were, the end result was still that the boys would merely be using the teacher as a stand in for their own desired woman, and a lot of times, it didn't have much basis in reality, if what she heard when she couldn't avoid it said.
What Ranma and his wife had was the reality of the situation. It wasn't perfect, but it also wasn't a real life sex dream either. Sure, the bride might have been an attractive woman, but that didn't mean that she wasn't a person too. They had feelings for each other, and had made a true bond that didn't seem to be about to break all that easily. And perhaps it was due to his roughly won experience, and her educated mind, but they seemed to have reached a balance of a sort.
Of course, the fact that the two of them were in love was enough of a reason for Ranma to have married:
