Amaterasu was the Japanese-styled one and was where Ranma currently was. It was sort of Edo-flavored, partly because it had taken quite awhile to rebuild civilization to any extent with the tools they had available. Located on a peninsula that stretched out into the sea, with deep shores surrounding it. It supplied rice and fish to most of the other nations.
Coming in from Londinium was the pseudo-British/Euro sort. There had been four founders for Londinium back after the landing, one had been from Scotland, two from England, and one from Belgium. Therefore Londinium had its Big Bertha (sort of a Big Ben) and was mainly sprawling farms with little English-style villages and a single big city.
Between the peninsula of Amaterasu and the flatlands of Londinium lay some land that looked like wrinkles when viewed from space. Hills, ridges, chasms, and otherwise non-horizontal surfaces made up the majority of the third of the five nations - Shou which was settled by a Chinese and a Korean. The nation therefore had an odd mix of the two cultures coming together.
The mountains, some actively volcanic, to the North of Londinium became the fourth of the five nations. Hafen was Germanic and the most industrialized of the five nations. Geothermal power had been developed fifty years previously, and vast steam vents and pipes ran through the cities and communities.
The fifth nation was the land of Vishna and had been settled by the final three. An Afrikaan geologist, a Hindu neurosurgeon, and a Dutch chemist. Settling in on the other side of Hafen from Londoninium, Vishna was the first country to be attacked by the Feydine and reversed their previous anti-pokeboys stance after the first set of losses.
Naturally, each country had their own idea as to what to do with one Ranma Saotome.
"So what's a 'Feydine'?" asked Ranma.
"Do you know what reikoku is?" asked the woman as she watched Ranma kick and punch at the rope-wrapped post.
"Yeah, it's kinda like chi," said Ranma.
"This world has powerful flows of reikoku, Ranma, and at points the reikoku becomes contaminated," said the woman. "When that happens, monsters appear."
"Monsters?" asked Ranma.
"Yes, each one is different and powerful, and we have had to come up with methods of fighting them," said the woman. "Eventually you'll learn some."
"Cool," said Ranma. Hey, he got special manuevers out of it.
The little girl knelt before the long hall, aware of her oh-ma and fa-ma behind her, and in front of her - the Empress. She knew this was serious business, and so she tried to look serious. Unfortunately, it just made her look cute.
"Sakura, do you know why you're here?" asked one of the old women near the throne.
"Because I got ordered to," said Sakura, frowning.
There was a chuckle from someone present, and the old woman frowned.
"I don't know, Councillor," said Sakura, bowing low. She obviously thought about it. "Am I getting a pokeboy soldier?"
"You have been trained in sword techniques, and that will continue," said the Empress from her throne. "Your reikoku training will continue as well. Yet you will also be making a very important friendship."
"Oh?" said Sakura, puzzled.
"His name is Ranma Saotome and he is a human boy," said the Councillor.
