But for Qol, that wasn't really something to worry about. As a Ferengi, he went where the opportunities were, and the sort that he was after didn't come just from some boardroom. There was profit to be had, and he was going to make sure that he got it. So, if his prospective clients wanted him to meet them there, then that was where he'd go.
"What do you think?" he asked, making sure to keep his posture submissive looking amongst the emotionless and obviously armed men. "I said that I would do just what you asked, and I have."
The contact merely gave him a level look. "Then you have the product?"
"All that you asked for. It's right here see? Just a little show of what I can bring in," the Ferengi answered, pulling open his crate.
"I see...."
"It is very good merchandise, is it not?"
"It is, and I should know, since it's my 'merchandise'. You are merely the transportation."
"Yes, yes.... I know. No offense was meant."
"Of course not. Now, can you get to deliver this to a certain spot?"
"All you have to do is pay, and I will get it anywhere that you want."
"Good, because the place that I want you to bring it to is a certain small military base," the contact stated.
"What?"
"I didn't think that someone with such big ears could be deaf...."
"Oh, no. That's not a problem. There are ways of handling any sort of problem...."
"Good. Now, you deliver it there to the person that I'll send, and you'll get your money."
Qol's smile showed a lot of pointed little teeth. "Then it will be there. You can count on it."
"That's what I want to hear. Now, go and make whatever preparations you need to. You'll be getting your work soon enough."
Nodding quickly, the Ferengi scurried off, giving the impression of a small rodent when he did so.
"You know, he'll betray us at the first opportunity he's given."
A figure stepped out of the shadows and smiled. "Let him try. He doesn't know enough to cause us that much trouble. Besides, by the time that he'll become a problem, we won't need him any more."
"True. And it's not like we have a reason to be detected."
"Exactly. Who would expect the new military to be helping in this.... endeavor?"
"We would."
"You are right on that. It does help to have someone in the military in your pocket. Especially when you are planning on taking advantage of getting power in a place like this," the second individual replied in an amused tone, while:
