He shelved that thought for later as he dashed the rest of the way to school. He found the going easy, running quite a bit faster than usual without getting winded. Shinji smirked a bit to himself, both as practice for this Alucard bit and from genuine amusement over how adrenalin and a chocolate rush-
He jumped forward half a block without even noticing due the same shock he had just received. Shinji searched a pocket of his previous clothes (now in the garment bag that had held the Alucard suit) and found the wrapper for that Clark bar he'd apparently lost track of and eaten in the store. "Oh, crap. Fucking shit whore piss son of a Gendo." He kept on cursing in a conversational tone, as the wind blew and fluttered his trench coat. Shinji cataloged his energetic feelings, his speed, and the fact he wasn't sweating in the direct sun or having any difficulty seeing through the dark lenses of his Alucard sunglasses. "I will not fly." Straightening out the wrapper, Shinji noted the date of manufacture for what had seemed a huge candy bar, blinking as its significance seemed to flow back into memory.
Back when he was in exile and in schools that taught more than just Impact Theory with sprinkles, he had seen historical pictures of the source material for comics and anime. This included a picture and scan of the legendary Action Comics #1, the last copies of which were unfortunately lost during Second Impact. Looking at the date of manufacture again, Shinji realized this Clark bar would (seemingly impossibly) have been one of the big bars inspired in part by the original Superman. He also noted how his senses were under sharper control and the uncanny ease of remembering everything he had ever experienced. "Not that that's a great comfort."
Shinji muttered to himself in this fashion all the way to school, arriving before he would reasonably have any right to do. It wasn't like he was the Flash, but Shinji had discovered along the way he had speed and to spare. He went right to his desk and saw Asuka staring at him in the hall outside his classroom with a totally bizarre mix of anger, jealousy, bewilderment, affection, and amusement on her face. Shinji thought he could even detect a bit of worry in her expression, but he knew better than to even bring it up. Instead he let her open the conversation before class would start. He didn't have to wait long.
"{Idiot.}" Shinji just smirked a bit more at hearing her reduced to German at the very start. Besides, a Alucard was made for smirking in his opinion, so he needed to practice. She went on. "All Hallows Eve isn't for another three days! What are you doing wearing that now? And what is that, anyway?"
He decided to be in character a bit, since he was fairly sure by now he would not slip fully into his costume's character until the party. "Why, I am dressed as Alucard, Pilot Girl. It is something that I feel must be worked at."
"And what the heck is a Alucard? Hammer never had him looking like that!" Asuka flushed a bit with both worry and rage when that infuriating smirk Shinji was apparently capable of just got bigger. "Why are you acting like this? I've got half a mind to call Medical!"
Rei stopped her passing by down the hallway and looked in to see what Asuka was concerned over. "I see. Shinji is smirking and acting in this manner as that is the character of Alucard, a powerful vampire used by humans to hunt other vampires. He's a classic anime and manga character, which Shinji is evidently cosplaying in preparation for the Halloween party." Having displayed a knowledge of cosplay and anime, Rei simply continued walking to her class. This was halted a few seconds later when a garment bag was pressed into her grasp by Shinji.
He thought now was as good a time as any to make his pitch to her. Asuka's jealousy needed tweaking before he offered her her own costume after school, anyway. "Here you are, Rei. I bought you a costume as well. " He then went back into his room. Asuka would, of course have gotten demanding then. The clock on the wall told her she did not have time, however, and the blond dashed to not be late for her own class. She cursed herself for seeming like a fool the whole way.
