Looking back on his new life, and the circumstances that brought him to his place, it made the demon wonder if there really some greater power somewhere with an almost idiotic sense of irony. It had been a simple plan, sever the connection to his body upon the moment of death, go to human world, merge with a human child, make a few modifications to said child in order to make his body more useful, and then wait a few years for his demonic power to recover before heading back home through one of those small dimensional holes that appeared from time to time. The whole thing was foolproof, provided that he lived long enough that is.
But did it work?
Of course not! If it had worked, he’d be off in the demon world, stealing, and murdering, and doing all that fun stuff demons do.
A fluke, a one in a billion chance encounter had thrown Kurama’s entire plan into disarray. When the body he was using was still in the infant stage, a giant fox demon had come upon the village where he was reborn and attacked. The village champion, showing a complete lack of human morals, then used a forbidden technique and sealed the fox demon into the body Kurama was currently using. What was even more annoying was that the technique cost the ninja his life, denying Kurama any hope of revenge later on for derailing his oh so carefully wrought plans.
When the other fox demon was sealed within Kurama’s human body, it had been a simple matter for the thief to destroy the creature since it had no real physical form and a much lesser hold on the world that Kurama did. However, when the fox was wiped from existence, Kurama absorbed his demonic energy as a side effect. That was the action that brought Kurama’s plans to a screeching halt. Empowered by the nine-tailed fox demon’s power, Kurama’s demonic energy was too great to pass through to the demonic world using the holes that formed on their own every now and then.
He was stuck in human world. Kurama was stuck in a world with no prey, no treasure, and an endless amount of mind numbingly annoying creatures that would be too bothersome to wipe out. Damn humans. To make matters worse, a fair number of the female gender of the aforementioned species simply would not leave him alone simply on the basis of his looks.
If I had known it would be like this, then I would of left my body’s development alone, Kurama thought to himself while running a hand through his long red hair. During his time in the womb, Kurama had used what was left of his demonic power to make subtle modifications to what would be his body using his demonic powers. Although he wasn’t powerful enough at the time to alter his form to completely mimic his former form, the fox demon did the best he could. The enhanced senses where a requirement for a demon of his species, but he hadn’t thought his vanity would of caused so much trouble for so long. Of course Yoko Kurama being what he was, it wasn’t enough to simply alter his body to increase his senses and physical abilities, the demon had also done his best to make his human form look at least somewhat like his old one.
At first he thought everything worked out just fine. It wasn’t until his teenage years that everything turned disastrous and showed Kurama that fangirls are annoying, no matter what species they happen to be. His reputation and good looks had attracted a few back in the demonic world, but not as many as came around now. Of course that was probably due to the fact that he killed most of the ones in the demon world.
Looking over to his clock, Kurama sighed as he realized that he had wasted a little too much time in thought this morning. He really needed to get up and head out.
