Besides, his closest friend was coming to visit, and even if there was nothing else to it, he would have been happy about that. There was such a close bond between them that it was unthinkable that he could ever ignore his friend's coming visit, especially as he would be bringing his son along. Having the two of them making the trip to his house was a welcome event, and with the engagement to bring about, there was nothing else he wanted to happen more.
Even his daughters seemed to be pleased about it. Kasumi was already preparing some snacks that were certain to be delightful, and only the fact that she didn't know if she would have enough time to cook something more elaborate kept her from doing so. Then there was Nabiki, who was apparently getting any distractions dealt with so that she could have her attention on the arrival of her possible fiance. And Akane was supposed to be preparing herself for what was to come.
Rather pleased with the situation and his daughters' reactions, he smiled to himself and got his own preparations underway. His good batch of sake was pulled out of hiding for the celebrating that he and Genma would do after the arrangement was settled. Then came a proper setting of the shogi board, making it all prepared for the game they would share.
Smiling to himself, he let his hand dart out at the board, and noted that there hadn't been a sound or any other hint at what he had just done. Soon, the two of them would be back together, which she could help but feel pure happiness over. With him, she wasn't the 'violent oversized brute' that some called her, but would be the only girl that he would want. He was warm, strong, caring, and liked her for who she was.
In fact, when he'd mentioned how he'd found it odd that boys could drool over girls in magazines that looked like her, but not notice her, she just about felt so happy that she'd nearly cried.
Soon, Ranma would be back in her arms, and she was going to be in his. Before she'd met him, she'd always heard that romantic dreams didn't work, but she knew that whomever said that was wrong. Her marriage was proof of that, though she didn't care to use it to prove a point. She had him and her friends, and that was all that mattered. To an orphan like her, there was nothing more important than to have people to call her own, and she had that.
Feeling the wonder of it all wind itself through her body, Makoto looked forward to her coming reunion with her husband, while:
