That wasn't to say that she wouldn't share it, given the opportunity. Nabiki never did really get into making much for meals though, and Akane did try her hardest, even if her results weren't the best. But Makoto and Ranma's mother were individuals that she had no problem sharing a kitchen with, though for slightly different reasons.
At the moment though, she was merely making something nice to eat, as she knew that Ranma would appreciate the food. Of course, she couldn't deny a guest any refreshments, so there was never any question of not making something for his father. And since she expected her sisters to join in, there was plenty of a reason to start making some nice treats.
Not even the ringing of the phone could interrupt her ease, and she moved gracefully over to pick up the handset. "Tendo residence."
*"Hi, Kasumi!"* chirped the voice on the other end.
"Usagi-chan! How nice of you to call!"
*"Well, it's always nice to be able to talk to you."*
"I could say the same. When are you coming to visit?"
*"Actually...."*
"What?"
*"It could be sooner than you might think,"* Usagi replied, with her tone making it clear that her hesitation was borne of happiness rather than any problems. *"Nabiki called here at Mako-chan's apartment earlier, and told us how Ranma is heading over to your house."*
"She did let us know that she was going to do that. But it was still very nice of her, wasn't it?"
*"It sure was! And it's great how he's going to be coming back really soon!"*
"Yes, it will. It will be nice to see him again, won't it?"
*"Definitely. And he'll get to see Mako-chan really soon. She's heading over to your house right now."*
"How wonderful! She's coming to see him, isn't she?" Kasumi asked.
*"Yeah.... But it isn't that she wouldn't go there just to see you guys. She just has more of a reason to go, you know."*
"Oh, I understand. And I'm really happy that they'll be able to see each other quicker."
*"Me too."*
"Then why don't you all come here too?"
*"We don't want to push things...."*
"It wouldn't be a bother at all...."
*"I'm sure that it wouldn't, but... we're also having a party for them here at her apartment."*
"Oh, that sound very nice!"
*"I hope that it will be. And you and your sisters are invited, okay? No trying to give apologies. I want to spend some time with you guys."*
"We'll be there," Kasumi answered, smiling at the younger girl's insistence... and the sound of an argument starting in the background. "Everything going okay?"
*"Basically, yes. It's just that Minako was about to start pulling out a bottle that Makoto had put away for special occasions...."*
"What's wrong with that?"
*"It was the liquor that Ranma's mom gave her when they got married,"* Usagi admitted.
"Oh my...."
*"Don't worry. Rei's got it."*
"Well, it sound's like you're busy, and I do have some things to do here. I'll see you when we come to the party."
*"See you then,"* the blonde replied.
Hanging up the phone, Kasumi smiled to herself. It was such a pleasure to be able to talk to Usagi, as the girl was a constant ray of sunshine. All of Makoto's friends were such nice people, and she'd always enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with them. The party would mean that she would have only a certain amount of time for what she had to do, but she was certain that she could handle it. But that didn't mean that she could wait around, as there was work to be done.
Getting right to it, she pulled out some of the ingredients for foods that she knew Makoto loved, while:
