Iczeria: Plans [Episode 156431]

by Disruptor

John Stewart of the Green Lantern Corps walked through the halls of the new Justice League satellite. On his face was a very worried expression. He entered the conference room and took a look at his fellow leaguers. Nightwing was serving in Batman's place, while Batman healed from a broken leg. Donna Troy was wearing her red Wonder Girl costume and Wally West was wearing his uncle's Flash costume. Aquaman was looking out one of the windows, while J'onn J'onzz was reading an Elery Queen novel.

"Where is Atom, Firestorm, and Hawkman?" John asked.

"Firestorm and Firehawk are busy with Killer Frost, Black Bison, and Plastique. Ray is trying to Jean from the Fluoronic Man. Hawkman and Hawkwoman are on Thanagar," Aquaman replied. "We're still waiting for Superman to show up or send a message. Why did you call this emergency meeting?"

"Superman has been kidnapped," John said.

"What?!" was shouted out in unison.

John went on. "A woman calling herself Zerib captured Superman to flush out someone by the name of Iczeria. Hal reported that this Zerib or Iczer-1B is probably under some type of mind control of some being called Big Gold."

Nightwing frowned. "I have never heard of Iczeria or Big Gold. What connection would this Iczeria have with Superman?"

"That's a mystery right now," John said.

"Well, we'd better get some lead paint ready," Nightwing said. "We'll need it to cover any Kryptonite that is around."

"No Kryptonite or red sun radiation was used to capture him. This woman has attacks that work with gravitational, psychic, and/or dimensional energies. Any one of the three bypasses Superman's invulnerability. Furthermore, Superman used a Phantom Zone projector on Zerib. Zerib got out of the Phantom Zone under her own power. If she didn't glow yellow, she'd still be very dangerous to a Green Lantern," John said bluntly.

The other members of the League stared in shock at John. Nightwing was the first to recover.

"Okay, can I talk to Hal? Maybe he can shed some light on this," Nightwing said.

"Sure but, we'll have to go to him in Sector 2813," John replied

"J'onn get Firestorm and Firehawk to join you in hunting for Superman. The rest of you head to Krougar. Try to find one of Sinestro's labs. We're probably going to need one of the yellow power rings before it is over," Nightwing declared

"How are we going to search without the locals becoming scared of us?" Donna Troy asked.

"Take Guy Gardner with you. If Ice wants to go along, allow her to," Nightwing replied.

"At once, mister chairman," the League responded.

Nightwing watched as the League left on their various missions, leaving only him and John Stewart behind.

"My first mission as chairman of the Justice League. This was not what I was expecting. Maybe I should have joined Garth and the others with the Outsiders."

John placed a hand on Dick's shoulder. "You're doing fine. You, Wally, and Donna are living up to the ideals that Bruce, Barry, and Diana set for each of you."

"I'm surprised Nubia turned down the Wonder Woman name," Dick said.

"Donna was serving as Wonder Girl and was really next in line. Nubia is busy trying to get the warrior's on Ares' island of war to embrace peace."

Nightwing nodded. "Let's go see Hal, maybe he has more to offer."

In Gotham City, Batgirl swung to a rooftop and looked down at the police pushing a man into the back of a holding van. She breathed a sigh of relief as she saw that.

"And that takes care of my own personal enemy once and for all," Batgirl muttered to herself. "He's beaten, molested, and killed several women. Unlike the loonies at Arkham, he will be found sane. I can put the Batgirl mantle up for good now."

Batgirl swung away from the scene and headed for her motorbike. Before she reached it, she felt a sudden chill and looked around.

'It feels like I'm being watched, but I can't see anything.'

"Barbara? Barbara Gordon?" a tentative voice called out

Batgirl whirled around at the sound of her civilian name. Batgirl's eyes widened as a red bolt of light struck near her and then resolved itself into a living being. It was a very uncertain elf.

"Who are you?" Batgirl demanded.

"I was hoping you could tell me. I don't know who I was. I think that at one time we were friends," Iczeria said hesitantly.

Batgirl said, "You don't look like anyone I have ever met."

"I was found near death by a woman named Sir Violet and she, for a lack of a better term, repaired me. During the procedure my facial features were altered, as was my powers," Iczeria explained. "I came to you, since I could feel we were friends and might be able to tell me who I used to be."

Batgirl looked at the nervous elf-like being and could feel that there was something familiar about the person standing before her. She bit her lower lip and thought of something

"Why did you come to me? Why didn't you ask Superman for help?" Batgirl asked.

"Super-man? Who is he?" Iczeria asked, and then grabbed her head. "Pain. So much pain associated with that name. Why?"

Batgirl ran over and put her arm around Iczeria's shoulders. "Easy. Easy. It's all right. Do you have a name I can call you for right now?"

"Iczeria. Sir Violet forgot that I wasn't one of her biological androids and gave me the name Iczer-1A, but Iczeria works better for me."

"Okay, Iczeria. While I'm dressed like this, call me Batgirl."

Iczeria stared at the symbol on Batgirl's chest and whispered, "Yellow bat? Batgirl? Now the image makes sense. "

Batgirl waited for a moment as Iczeria slowly got a hold of herself.

Batgirl, I'll try not to disappoint you. I need your help.

"You're telepathic?" Batgirl asked.

So are you, now. You can talk to me telepathically at any time. I gave you that ability. I could only do it once though.

"Why?"

"I need for you to help me. You can use your telepathy to enter my mind and look around and maybe put my memory back together. That is why I gave you that ability."

Barbara Gordon's throat dried as she thought of the enormous trust this strange woman had shown her. She looked at her bike and then back at Iczeria. All thoughts of quitting the super-hero business fled as she looked into Iczeria's red eyes.

"All right. I will help you. We have to find a secure place to talk."

"There's that dead city we can use."

"Dead city? Where on Earth is that?"

Iczeria pointed up at the stars. "It's not on Earth. It's out there."

"I'm going to have to find a place to store my cycle. I don't want it stolen."

"I'll just bring it along with us."

Iczeria put a hand on the bike and a hand on Batgirl's shoulder. Iczeria, Batgirl, and the Batcycle turned into red light and shot upwards. The ball of light traveled at FTL speeds and dropped down into the middle of a domed city. The ball of light faded and the group was like it was on Earth.

"We're here," Iczeria said. "I managed to get rid of the radiation and bury the victims of the radiation poisoning."

Batgirl looked around and wracked her brain trying to recall why the city looked so familiar.

"There's a house near here that feels familiar," Iczeria said. "I think I lived there before my memory loss."

"Lead on," Batgirl said and tried something.

Iczeria, I have no idea why you placed such a great amount of trust in me. You know what I could do to you, don't you?

Yes. I trust you. I know in some way that we were friends or sisters without the ties of family.

Batgirl remained silent as she followed Iczeria. They soon arrived at the building and entered. Batgirl spotted a card lying on the ground. She picked it up and saw it was a very small television of some sort. Batgirl frowned, as she looked at the device.

"I've seen this device before, but I can't remember where," Batgirl muttered, and pressed a button near the edge of the card.

She immediately dropped the card in shock and horror and stared at Iczeria.

"Kara? Is that you?"

Iczeria blinked. "Kara? Is that my name?"

Batgirl looked around and felt cold shivers up her spine. "This is Argo City."

Iczeria picked up the card and looked at the picture that was displayed. It showed a man, a woman, and a teen-age girl. Iczeria touched the faces of the man and woman, as a tear ran down her cheek.

"They feel important to me, but I can't recall who they were."

"That's a picture of Zor-El, his wife Allura, and their daughter Kara," Batgirl quietly said. "That girl was you."

"Are you sure?" Iczeria asked.

"Pretty sure, but the only way to be absolutely sure is to see your memories," Barbara Gordon said, as she removed the cowl of her costume. "How do I do use my telepathy to do that?"

"I'm not sure. My telepathy is different than what I gave you."

Barbara studied Iczeria. The more she compared Iczeria to Supergirl, the more convinced that they were one and the same.

'Kara sought me out, but not Superman,' Batgirl thought in disbelief.

She quickly recalled how Iczeria acted when Superman's name was brought up and grimaced.

'Right. There is a lot of pain associated with Superman for her. I'm going to bring you back Kara.'
