However, Shampoo wasn't exactly someone who enjoyed a sea journey. She loved to swim, and didn't mind getting her swimsuits wet, but riding over a great deal of shifting water wasn't something that was comfortable for her. Not that she minded it all that much, as she could easily handle it. But she just felt better when she was standing on dry land.
Of course, it also meant that she was going to be standing on Japanese soil rather soon, which was something of a major thing for her, in and of itself. There had always been an awareness that she'd likely have to return to that nation anyway, but she had never known when the time for that would come. Now that it had, she was discovering that this was going to be something of a homecoming of sorts as well, as she had gained some deep connections with that land.
After all, her husband's family came from there, and he had been born in its capital city. She also had people that she knew in the city of Tokyo, which was part of the reason for her making this trip. From what she knew of her father-in-law, he'd be taking Ranma back to this land sooner or later, and the best way to deal with him would be to cut him off, if she could. The two of them tended to banter all the time, and insult each other a lot, but they were always supporting each other when 'the chips were down', as Nabiki called it.
If nothing else, she could have a place to stay while she searched, and there was always the possibility that Ranma might try to contact them. Having that happen would be the best, though she knew that the fat fool that was his father wouldn't exactly be helpful in that regard. It would be the best if he actually wound up helping her husband contact the Tendos, but she didn't think that she was quite /that/ lucky, or that Genma Saotome was going to be screwing up his own plans that spectacularly on his own.
"Here we are boy!" Genma declared, spreading his arms at the sight of the building in front of him. "This is the Tendo dojo!"
Ranma turned his attention from the sign to his father, and opened his mouth to inform him that he could read.
However, a tall man in a dark gi came charging out of the house and grabbed up the elder Saotome in a strong embrace. "Genma! BROTHER!"
"Soun!" the portly man joyfully cried out, hugging the other man back.
"I don't know if I should be afraid, or embarrassed," a dry voice murmured from the doorway.
Glancing over at the speaker, the pigtailed boy saw Nabiki giving a wry smirk, with her sisters standing beside her, while:
