Bejiita turned his glance away from the angry-and-unconscious girl, and back to the groveling-and-still-conscious girl. "You will tell me about this Ranma person", he said mildly.
Nabiki nodded very quickly.
Bejiita smiled. It was cold, not the genuine and unforced smile he sometimes (though rarely) used. It was a smile that promised death on a vast scale.
It was more than enough to get Nabiki to talk. "Ranma is a martial artist. The best martial artist in Nerima, actually, except for maybe Happosai and Cologne, and it's really just experience they have on him, and he has lots of people who want to kill him, and he has many fiancees, and he turns into a girl when he's hit by cold water, and hot water turns him back, except when the curse gets locked, which happened at least once that I know of." Nabiki said all this very fast.
Bejiita heard it all with ease. He understood the words easily, but he knew he was missing the context, and he had a feeling the girl had left much out. But in her defense, she was obviously petrified of him. Which was sensible of her. "Let's...go through that in order, a little more slowly. You said this Ranma is a martial artist? Armed or unarmed combat?" Nabiki nodded and said "unarmed combat, the Saotome School of Indiscriminate Grappling." Bejiita nodded in confirmation, and continued. "And you say he's the best in this Nerima place, which I assume is here. Except for a person named Happosai and a person named Cologne, who you said really just had experience on him. This implies that this Happosai and Cologne are old, and that Ranma is young, or at least younger than them. I will assume that this Ranma is about the age of this unconscious girl, who you seem familiar to somehow. She is your sister, perhaps? Am I following?"
