Setsuna Meiou had quickly teleported from the Time-Gates to her house. She was not too happy with what was going on with the princess and the idea that Usagi would want to wake up Saturn. Grabbing a pad of paper, she wrote down two things on it.
"Hotaru? Accident?" Setsuna read aloud, as she tapped her pen against the pad.
She went over to one of the newest computers the world had to offer and ran a program she had set up. It had the current census from the National Registry. She quickly typed Hotaru into a field in the program and entered. As the computer ran its search program, Setsuna bit the end of her pen in worried thought.
'I'm might have to wake Neptune and Uranus up early. Should I put the princess in observation to...? No. There is something about those gems she talks to. Besides, she can teleport. I'll just have to be careful.'
After about an hour, her search program had finished the job. She quickly hit some keys and a ratcheting sound was heard through the room, as her printer started printing out the information on any and all Hotarus in Japan. Setsuna gave a long sight, as she saw the list.
"I am going to have to wake up Uranus and Neptune early. I can't search through this many people with time running out. Princess...," Setsuna muttered.
Setsuna transformed into Sailor Pluto and teleported to a park where Michiru Kaioh was practicing. The musician was sitting at a bench underneath a cherry tree and playing a classic violin song with her eyes closed. She stopped when she felt a shadow fall across her. She opened her eyes and saw the worried face of Sailor Pluto. Looking around, she saw that there was no one else in the park.
"Who are you? You look familiar," Michiru said with a bit of confusion in her voice and on her face.
Pluto held out her hand that was holding a strange pen. "I am Sailor Pluto. I need your help. Using the pen will allow to transform into Sailor Neptune."
Michiru took the pen cautiously from Pluto's hand and looked at it. "I am not Sailor V. I have no idea on how to fight."
"I don't have much choice or time. Someone is trying to wake up Sailor Saturn," Pluto said.
For some reason, that last sentence of Sailor Pluto's sent a chill up and down Michiru's spine and she felt very afraid. Michiru set her violin down and stared at the pen. She noticed that her hands were shaking.
"How do I...?"
"Hold it up and say 'Neptune Planet Power! Make Up!'" Pluto replied to the unfinished question.
"Neptune Planet Power! Make Up!"
Sailor Pluto calmly watched as Michiru transformed into Sailor Neptune for the first time. Sailor Neptune grabbed her head after she transformed.
"I remember things. Silver Millennium. I was a warrior that served the Moon Kingdom and.... Sailor Saturn the Senshi of Silence she... No!"
Sailor Pluto nodded at the stricken look on Sailor Neptune's face. "You might not have most of your memories, but your knowledge of Sailor Saturn has returned. I'm going to wake up Uranus as well. We have a lot of ground to cover and not much time. Get your violin, we'll drop it off at my house."
Neptune nodded and the two teleported away from the park. After arriving at Setsuna's house, Pluto checked the date on the calendar. She rolled her eyes in exasperation.
"Hopefully we can get to her before the race starts," Pluto muttered.
"Who?"
"Haruka Ten'oh. She's the one who will become Sailor Uranus."
The two Senshi teleported to racetrack where a sandy blonde was working on a racecar. Pluto cleared her throat. The person working on the car looked up and went back to working on the car.
"If you two are after autographs, see me after the race."
"Haruka Ten'oh, We are not after autographs and I am not a lesbian," Pluto said in a calm voice.
Haruka looked up. "You know I am a girl?"
Pluto nodded. "I also know you are underage for driving in a race. We need to talk."
Haruka closed the hood on the racecar and sighed. "What do two cheerleaders want with me?"
"Not here?" Pluto said, and raised her staff.
The three girls vanished from the racetrack and appeared at Setuna's house. Pluto pulled a pen from sub-space and handed it to Haruka.
"Call out 'Uranus Planet Power! Make Up!' and I'll explain in a bit."
Haruka amusedly lifted the pen. "Uranus Planet Power! Make Up!"
After transforming, Haruka suffered a brief wash of memories of her past life. She looked at the Senshi with the black skirt.
"Sailor Pluto?"
"Yes. Now for the main reason I woke the two of you up early. Someone is trying to wake up Sailor Saturn."
Uranus blanched. "Why? How?"
Pluto walked over to her printer, which had finally stopped and started ripped along the perforations.
"All I have is the name Hotaru and that she is supposed to be in some kind of accident. We need to get to her before the person trying to wake her up does."
Uranus asked, "Why don't you kill the person trying to wake her up?"
Sailor Pluto flinched. "There's a problem with that."
"What could be the problem?" Neptune asked.
"It's the reincarnation of Princess Serenity that wants to do it."
"What? Why?" The two new Senshi yelled in unison.
"The princess is implying that there is a threat that even Sailor Saturn's power might not be enough. She also said that she doesn't want to be near any of her Senshi until they get stronger."
Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune felt their cheeks burn with anger. Pluto saw their reactions and nodded.
"I felt the same way. That's going to be the other problem. We are going to have to protect the princess from whatever this accident is supposed to be and then find out what's wrong with her. The princess has been acting so weird ever since she woke up to her past memories."
"What do you mean by that?" Neptune asked.
"She takes these weird gems from out of sub-space and talks to them. I am only getting half the conversation after eavesdropping on her with the Time-Gates. That's how I knew she wanted to wake up Sailor Saturn. We can't rely on the Inner Senshi at the moment. They are busy with Metailia's forces."
"Great," Sailor Uranus said sarcastically. "Anything else we need to know about?"
"The princess has powers that seem to go beyond that of a Sailor Senshi. She can teleport, fly, and seems to have an uncanny precognition. It's the teleporting that makes me reluctant to have her put under observation. She only talks to the gems while she is in private, so I doubt I could convince her current parents that she is mentally ill."
Sailor Pluto finished separating the papers out and stacked them into three piles. She waved at the papers, as she shook her head. "This is a list and general bio of all the Hotarus in Japan. We just need to figure out which Hotaru is the right one."
"You said that the Hotaru we will be looking for will be in some kind of accident?" Uranus asked.
"I don't know what the accident is, but yes," Pluto replied.
Uranus and Neptune each picked up a pile of papers and looked through them.
"That should help narrow the search a bit better. We eliminate the ones who are the least likely to be involved in an accident," Uranus said. "Like this one. Hotaru Tomoe. She is a young girl with frail health and stays home all the time. Her father is a science teacher and has a degree in astrophysics. Her mother died a few years ago. Unless lightning strikes her house, she is not going to be in any danger. Pretty impressive information gathering."
Sailor Pluto smiled. "I do have access to school records and what is written down for each student. As to eliminating, I'd rather move the least likely to the bottom of the list. We do need to check every one of them out, until we find Saturn. I also don't want any random fatalities. Just because someone has the name Hotaru, doesn't mean we can kill her. Oh, Haruka?"
"Yes," Sailor Uranus said, as she moved Hotaru Tomoe's bio to the bottom of her pile.
"You might want to call the race track and say that a family emergency came up," Pluto said.
"Right," Sailor Uranus said, as she picked up the phone.
"I need to check up on the princess," Pluto said. "I'll be right back."
Sailor Pluto teleported to the Time-Gates and looked in on Usagi. She watched Usagi circle a day and write 'P90' in the circle.
"That's the day of the accident," Usagi muttered. "I doubt any of the Senshi are ready for that."
Setsuna bit down her anger, as she heard Usagi muttering. She noticed that one of the gems was out and lit. It seemed to be a dark green gem. Usagi took a sideways glance and focussed on something in front of her.
"I know. But, I'm not going to stand around and let it harm innocents. It has to be stopped," Usagi said. "It should also be good practice for Hotaru. She needs to get stronger as well."
Setsuna flinched at that. 'Saturn needs to get stronger? She has to be joking.'
Setsuna focused on the calendar and memorized the date less than two weeks away. "We really don't have much time."
