"Well then brother, I will merely tell you, 'good luck', for you will need it," Kodachi murmured.
"Bah!" the elder Kuno sibling grunted. "What does 'luck' have to do with anything? I will succeed in all my attempts, for that is the will of the heavens!"
"And yet you have not been able to secure the agreement of 'your beloved' to come to meet your family."
"She is merely following the path of a woman who would not wish to be seen as 'easy'. It is called 'playing hard to get', dear sister."
She smirked back at him. "I know that, and do believe that she is not playing as much as you think."
"You are right in that observation."
"I am?"
"But of course! After all, would she not take my courting of her with the gravity that it deserves? No doubt, she is constantly aware of the seriousness of the matter, and does not wish to ruin what we have together."
'Which is merely a foolish delusion on your part, brother,' Kodachi thought to herself, but did not want to vocalize it. He wouldn't listen anyway, and she didn't see any reason to try to jog him out of his fantasy realm. It wasn't like they had to spend all that much time together, and she knew that she would leave him to work his idiocy at his own school. That would be the easiest thing to handle, and she was certain that she could do it quite easily.
To want to do something would indicate that she cared about it, and she couldn't see anything in the situation that would be worthy of wasting her time with.
Snoring was not something that he terribly enjoyed, but Ranma knew that he could handle it easily enough. Having been at campsites all over Japan, he'd heard all sorts of noises, and learned how to take it all in stride. Part of what the lifestyle that he'd been raised in taught him was to learn how to sleep anywhere he might want to.
However, all that training did little in the face of one snoring father.
Genma Saotome had his face half buried into his pillow, with just enough space to let air out. That allowed for a sort of strangled and repetitive snort that just kept on going even though the guy should have kept breathing. Yet, the closest to taking a breath that he did was to make a sound akin to drain half filled with pudding that had a vacuum on the other end of the pipe.
Folding his pillow around his head, Ranma found himself wanting to pound whomever had given his father those drinks, as he tried to sleep, while:
