"To think that my child has gotten to be so soft in so short a time...." Genma declared as he did two backwards leaps, which allowed him to cross from one side of the yard to the other.
A scowling and growling redhead in a gi tossing punches and kicks at him as she followed his path. "Why don't you come here and see how soft I am, Pop?!"
It just so happened that it was the people who lived there that made it a rather strange place to be.
Coming into the family room, a bleary eyed Nabiki took in the scene, and sighed. "Man.... I know that they are going to be at this every morning, but I still can't get over how much noise they can make."
"You said it," Akane muttered from her seat at the table as she hefted her weights. "It's like they need to make as much sound as they can. Of course, that panda is the cause of it, what with how he pushes things."
"Well, he is a rather loud person to begin with."
"Among other deficiencies."
"Nice one," her sister admitted with a snicker.
"Thanks."
Their father let out an exasperated tone from behind his newspaper, and his middle daughter gave him a level look. "You know that he has some... problems with him, so you have to know that it's only natural that someone's going to point them out."
"Not that anyone needs to do so. I mean, they're right out there in the open," the younger girl commented, stiffening a bit as the fight went past her again.
"Too true."
"And unfortunately, he keep on pulling his son into his stupidity. Which means that Ranma's got to do that every morning."
"What do I gotta do every mornin'?" a familiar voice coming from the hall asked.
Both sisters glanced out at where there was a redhead kicking Genma Saotome in the head, and turned to face the speaker to see a very male Ranma entering the room with a yawn.
"What?"
"We thought that you were going to spar with your father," Akane told him.
"Me too, but after kickin' me ta wake up on his way ta use the bathroom, he didn't come back."
"Then if you aren't the one fighting with him...."
"That means that it would be...." Nabiki continued.
"Oh my," Kasumi murmured as she came into the room with a platter of food. "Is something the matter?"
"We were wondering about what's going on outside...."
"Ah, yes. Well, Mother was out in the dojo early this morning for her usual training session when Grandfather Genma went out there. At first he thought that it was you in there, Ranma-kun, but when he found out that it was Mother, he made some comments about how unprepared she was. They got to talking, rather loudly though, and then they decided to spar."
The younger sisters and their step-uncle looked at each other for a long moment before nodding as one as they came to a conclusion as to what they should do.
"This breakfast looks delicious, Kasumi," Nabiki commented.
"Really good," Ranma agreed as he sat down. "I can't wait ta get started."
Giving a nod to his words, Akane gave her eldest sister a smile. "He's definitely right about that."
"Thank you all. Though.... We'll have to get Mother and Grandfather Genma to the table...."
"That's easy. Akane?" the pigtailed boy said.
Picking up one of her weights, Akane hefted it for a moment... before hurling it right at her step-grandfather's back, which made him sprawl when it contacted.
"Nice hit. And good form."
"Thanks," the dark haired girl replied. "Proper wrist use. Do it right, or you'll sprain your wrist, you know."
"Good to remember."
"Then maybe you'll remember who threw it, boy!" Genma barked as he stormed into the room.
"'Course. Nabiki? Pass the miso, would ya?"
"Sure thing, Ranma," the named girl agreed.
Genma balled his hands into fists and glared at the group. "Is anyone listening to me?!"
"Obviously not, Pop," Ranko barked as she grabbed his head from the back and shoved his face into the floor. Then she straightened herself up, walked over to the table, and sat down. "Breakfast time already?"
"It sure is, sis," her brother agreed.
"Find a better way to let me know, next time."
"Sure thing. Nice fight though."
"Thanks. Like the meal?"
"Absolutely. It's always best ta start the mornin' with breakfasts that come from the kitchen here."
Kasumi blushed a tiny bit. "I just want everyone to enjoy what I give them to eat."
"We do," Akane responded, and the others nodded.
The Saotome patriarch would have done the same, but as his face was currently planted into the floorboards in the Tendo's porch, he was a little too out of it to do something other than groan, while:
