First, he decided to learn the basic form - levitation. Ranma began sweating as he tried to will his body up, as the scroll indicated when trying for the first time. It was later described as something that would become second nature, like walking. Ranma rose a few shaky inches off the ground, his body surrounded by an intense blue aura as he frowned in concentration. Sweat beaded off of his face as the aura intensified and he wobbled several times before rising an entire foot off the ground.
He opened his eyes and looked down at the scroll. Next, he nodded his head forward... only to roll forward at an agonizing speed. After falling to the floor, and landing on stomach, Ranma wondered what he did wrong. "Did I turn my head too much...?" He stood up quickly and tried again.
After about an hour of Trial and Error, Ranma had mastered basic flight. It wasn't easy at all; He'd crashed enough times to knock any lesser man out, and he had the bumps to show it (And the dojo wasn't spared, Either.) Ranma opened the scroll and sighed as he realized it would take a bit more work than this. Although now he could achieve three dimensional movement, he needed some more training to increase his speed and handling.
That was the moment Kasumi poked her head into the the Dojo and announced dinner was ready. Ranma okay-ed her and put the scroll back in his pocket. After dinner, he would resume training. But he held no illusions - It wasn't something he'd master in one day. He'd have to keep it somewhere.
Ranma walked into the house, not noticing a small black piglet staring at him slack-jawed. "That's impossible," Ryoga thought. "Flying around like that... Ranma'll leave me behind with that kind of ability! I have to find out how he does it, or find some way of countering it!" Ryoga acknowledged that "some way of countering it" would be close to impossible; short of the ability to freeze Ranma altogether, there would probably be no "Quick-Fix" For an enemy who could fly.
After dinner, Ranma walked back into the Dojo, and resumed practicing. There weren't quite as many accidents as before, and he found himself rather enjoying the experience. Ranma left the dojo, and went up his room, he wondered about the next day. All he had left to do now was gain some flying experience; The scroll had told him all it could for the basics, which was really all he needed. The Intermediate and Advanced things were all just aerial maneuvers that he knew he'd learn on his own anyway.
The next day, Ranma woke up. He quickly remembered what he was going to do today, and was immediately glad that it was not a school day. However, when he was finally dressed and ready to go practice, he...
